Abstract: Disclosed is a door assembly comprising a custom-built doorframe housing a main door which carries an integrally mounted, rectangularly-shaped leaf door. The trailing edge of the main door rotates about a vertical axis which is parallel to, and proximate the inner rear surface of the doorframe. The leaf door is rotatably attached, by a spring mechanism, to a cutout excised from the leading edge of the main door. As the main door rotates about its vertical axis, the leaf door is restrained, by tension of the spring mechanism, from closing with full force upon human fingers or any other object that may be proximate the door jamb, or inner doorframe area. The pivoting, or trailing edge of the main door may be abutted against elastomeric material affixed to the inner rear surface of the doorframe, thereby preventing the insertion of fingers into what otherwise would be a hazardous gap.

One end of the bottom cover adjacent to the pivot is formed with a first hook. The rear cover assembly has a rear cover covering a rear surface of the grip. The rear cover has a protrusion connected to the grip. One end of the rear cover away from the protrusion is formed with a second hook to be engaged with the first hook. With this structure, the first hook is separated from the second hook when the bottom cover rotates downwards, thereby driving the rear cover to open rearwards by using the protrusion as a center of rotation. In this way, by only opening the bottom cover, the user can open the rear cover assembly simultaneously, thereby exchanging a pressurized gas cylinder in the grip more rapidly.

  • Patent number: 5718089
Abstract: A framed modular miniature front for a shelter, which front has a header, threshold and side rails together with an inner wall portion mounted on the surrounding frame. A full length door opening is formed in that wall adjacent a side rail of the modular frame. One or more dutch-type doors are swingably mounted in the opening by dowel hinges. This door opening is covered by a door pinned at the hinge side by a dowel pin that is seated in slightly oversized openings drilled lengthwise into the hinge side of the door. A swing space provides easy and full opening of the hinged door.

  • Patent number: 5301831
Abstract: The present invention comprises a one-at-a-time dispensing assembly for newspaper racks of tetrahedral shape in which the assembly is positioned within and spans the walls of the rack. The dispensing assembly of the invention includes a fixed support base subassembly fixedly positioned--in a vertical sense--adjacent to the lower edge of the rack opening, and a shaker subassembly. The base subassembly supports both a stack of newspapers and a planar member of the shaker subassembly. The shaker subassembly also includes a lever extending exterior of the rack below the lower edge of the rack opening actionably connected to the planar member. Purpose: to permit to-and-fro movement of the planar member supporting the stack of newspaper via corresponding movement of the lever.

  • Patent number: 5248060
Abstract: A theft deterrent device restricts the number of newspapers or other periodicals that can be retrieved from a newspaper vending machine at one time. The device includes a cover gate forming a generally T-shaped opening with a vertical passageway and a horizontal slot opening. The cover gate mounts over an access opening of the vending machine behind a hinged door that closes against the vending machine. The cover gate restricts the number of periodicals that can be withdrawn at one time from a storage cabinet portion of the machine after the hinged door is opened and lowered by a customer. The deterrent device is easily installed on existing newspaper vending machines by way of an engagement member that securely engages a fixed part of the vending machine in the region of the access opening. A lock mechanism on the cover gate serves to lock the cover gate to the dispensing machine and firmly hold the gate in place over the access opening.

  • Patent number: 4815757
Abstract: A rapid deployment surveillance vehicle is disclosed for detecting illegal immigration across national borders and the like. An off-the-road vehicle (V) is equipped with a rapid mast erection/retraction assembly (A) which includes a carriage mechanism (24) which carries a telescoping mast (12). A track mechanism (20) slidably carries the carriage mechanism (24) by means of a fixed support (22) and pivoting support arms (26). Ram air cylinders (52, 54, 56) move the carriage mechanism in translational and rotational movement as guided on the track mechanism in a manner that the mast (12) is moved from a stowed horizontal position to an erect vertical position. During erection of mast (12), a longitudinal roof opening (10) is opened by means of a main door (14) and displacement door (16) in an automatic manner. Once erect, a leveling system (B) checks to ensure that the vehicle is within one degree of level.

  • Patent number: 4142458
Abstract: An enclosed fume hood having an access window with a vertically sliding sash is provided with an additional horizontally movable sash which closes off only a fraction of the open window space and thus reduces the volume of air required to be drawn through the window in order to maintain the requisite air velocity while still permitting complete access to the interior of the hood. Provision is also made to permit the horizontally movable sash to be easily removed, when necessary, to permit insertion into the hood of apparatus wider than the residual open window space.

  • Patent number: 4074788
Abstract: A yieldable door latch for holding open the door of a tractor cab in which the fender adjacent the door is of a width comparable to the width of the door, the door latch being mounted adjacent the outer edge of the fender so as to engage the under side of the door at a point close to the outer edge of the door. The door latch has biasing means located beneath the fender for biasing the door latch upwardly and has two inclined surfaces inclined upwardly from the outer and inner ends of the latching member to a central notch which is designed to receive the lower edge of the door. This biasing means is located beneath the fender and has an adjustable stop for limiting the upward movement of the latching member so that the outer end of the latching member always lies beneath the path of the lower edge of the door.
