  • Patent number: 7448164
Abstract: A double-hung window having a uniform interior wood appearance is disclosed. The window has a head jamb and side jambs. The window has an upper and lower sash, each having a wood frame. The upper and lower sashes are held in the window by the side jambs. Lock-pins are extendable from each side of the lower sash. A concealed jamb liner cover for selective engagement with each upper side jamb is provided which has an exposed wood surface and a channel for receiving the lock-pin of the lower sash. An upper sash lock housing attached to an upper portion of the wood frame of the upper sash, is provided which holds an upper sash lock-pin for each side of the upper sash. • Publication number: 20040168369
Abstract: A tilt latch and pivot housing is disclosed, which has a collapsible retainer on each of its side walls extending along a substantial portion of the length thereof and angularly outwardly from the side walls of the housing. The inner surface of each retainer is spaced from the surface of the adjacent wall of the housing, thus forming a crevice or gap designed to receive the retainer when sufficient pressure is applied to the retainer's outer surface causing the retainer to deflect inwardly. According to some embodiments, portions of the retainers adjacent to the upper engagement ends are beveled. The retainers may also be beveled on one end to facilitate installation of the housing into a sash. The housing of the present invention may also include a collapsible retainer formed at the bottom wall of the housing for preventing longitudinal movement of the housing after installation.

  • Patent number: 6026617
Abstract: A window assembly of the type having at least one sash which is slidably mounted between a pair of jambs defining a window case, wherein the sash includes jamb-engaging side members (i.e., stiles) which have generally flat edges. The flat or flush sides of the sash stiles allow the sash to be easily pivoted away from the plane of the window case, without pushing on, or deforming, the jamb liners, thus overcoming problems generally associated with conventional sash having recess or plows configured to be interfitted with protruding ridge-like channels projecting outwardly from the jambs, as is typically the case with wood-frame windows. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, weatherstrips are mounted to each of the jamb liners to provide weathersealing engagement between the jamb liners and the sash stiles at the sides of the windows.

  • Patent number: 5927014
Abstract: A shoe for movement in a track of a closure assembly the track having at least one engaging portion, the pivot shoe comprising a carrier portion having a bottom end for movement within the track, the shoe having clamping portions for clamping said at least one engaging portion of the track of the closure assembly the at least one engaging portion being disposed between the clamping portions of the shoe when the pivot shoe is installed in the closure assembly. The shoe also has an operating mechanism, the clamping portions being in engagement with said operating mechanism said operating mechanism being moveable from a first position to cause the clamping portions to engage the at least one engaging portion of the track wherein the closure member of the closure assembly is locked or secured in position, to a second position wherein the clamping portions disengages the at least one engaging portion of the track wherein the closure member of the closure assembly is free to move in the track.

  • Patent number: 5632118
Abstract: An improved window assembly of the type having sliding, pivoting sashes, includes a window frame having a pair of jambs, a jamb liner secured to each of the jambs, a sash which is slidable within the jambs, and a frictional positioner shoe disposed within a channel in the jamb liner. The frictional positioner shoe provides frictional engagement between the sash and the jamb liners to securely hold the window in a raised position, and providing additional restraint against vertical movement of the shoe and rotational movement of the sash when it is tilted away from the plane of the window opening. Also provided is an improved window of the type having sliding, pivoting sashes, which include an elongate slidable member disposed within a channel in the jamb liner, and a rotatable member having an integrally attached brake member disposed within a bore passing through the elongate slidable member.

  • Patent number: 4290231
Abstract: A window assembly comprises a hollow frame with a trackway mounted upon each frame side including opposed pairs of inner and outer channel tracks of dovetail shape in cross section. Opposed pairs of channel slides of dovetail shape are movably mounted in opposed tracks. A window support bracket overlies each slide and adjacent its lower end is pivotally mounted thereon. Upper and lower sashes are interposed between pairs of opposed support brackets and secured thereto. The upper and lower sashes and connected channel slides are adapted for vertical adjustments along the inner and outer tracks respectively, and the upper and lower sashes and connected support brackets are adapted for selective inward pivotal movement approximately 90.degree. to facilitate cleaning.
