Publication number: 20130283695Abstract: A fenestration operation hardware assembly includes latch mechanisms configured for coupling to respective top and bottom sashes, and a paddle member configured for coupling the latch mechanisms. The latch mechanisms include movable latch bolts, and at least one of the latch mechanisms includes an operator interface feature movable between at least initial and operating positions. In an initial position, the latch bolts are in respective projected positions, and the top and bottom panels are immobilized. In a first withdrawn position, at least one of the top and bottom panels is movable, and in a second withdrawn position, at least one of the top and bottom panels is tiltable. In an example, a top latch bolt is moved by the paddle member according to movement of the bottom latch bolt.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 29, 2013Publication date: October 31, 2013Inventor: Marvin Lumber and Cedar Company, d/b/a Marvin Windows and Doors

Publication number: 20130283694Abstract: A fenestration operation hardware assembly includes at least one latch mechanism and an operation hardware assembly configured for coupling with a panel slidable within a frame. The latch mechanism includes a latch bolt and a latch biasing element coupled with the latch bolt. An operator of the operation hardware assembly is remote from the latch mechanism and is coupled with the panel. The operator includes an operator interface feature movable between initial and operating positions. In the initial position the latch bolt is in a projecting position, and in the operating position the operator interface feature moves the latch bolt into one or more withdrawn positions. The operation hardware assembly includes a retention assembly for retaining the latch bolt in a withdrawn position.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 29, 2013Publication date: October 31, 2013Inventors: Nathan H. Patent number: 7500330Abstract: A latch mechanism for a window includes a main housing, a bolt, and a spring. The bolt is substantially located within the housing and is biased by the spring into an extended position. In the extended position, an end of the bolt extends into a side jamb of a frame of the window. The end of the bolt has a protrusion which projects in the direction of travel of a window sash within the window frame and is engageable with a pocket brace located in the side jamb.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2006Date of Patent: March 10, 2009Inventor: Ken Fullick

Patent number: 6718693Abstract: An invertably mountable device having a generally hollow housing which mounts a movable latch member that is preferably biased toward latching engagement with an adjacent window jamb liner by a spring disposed within the housing. The housing preferably comprises a pair of mirror-image shells which fit together to form an enclosure, and provide an internal pivot mount for the latch member, and the housing has an opening through which the latch member projects. The latch member preferably carries a finger grip/thumb abutment member which facilitates movement of the latch member by an operator, and the grip/abutment member and latch member are preferably configured to permit mounting of the grip/abutment on either side of the latch member, to facilitate invertable mounting of the latch member. The latch member and jamb liner preferably provide a detent structure for secure interengagement.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2002Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: Newell Industrial CorporationInventor: Robert E. Publication number: 20030167694Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved vent stop for use in a sliding sash window assembly or a sliding door assembly. The vent stop has a housing adapted to be disposed in the recess. This housing includes a cavity with a bottom plate therein. Inside the cavity is a tumbler that may be in a retracted position and an extended position. When the tumbler is in an extended position the tumbler has a protruding apex at the top. The tumbler has at least one pivot means for pivotally securing said tumbler to said housing for movement between the extended position and the retracted position. In the extended position the bottom of the tumbler overlies a portion of the second sash to prevent movement of the lower sash past the tumbler. When in a retracted position within said cavity the sash or door can be raised and/or moved past the tumbler without interference. Also within the housing is a spring means for biasing said tumbler into said extended position.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 17, 2001Publication date: September 11, 2003Inventor: Luke K. Liang

Patent number: 5140769Abstract: A window having at least one slidable sash which is capable of being pivoted about a central axis. It may include among its features a selectively movable weather-stripping between stiles, a latch between non-rotating and rotating portions of the sash to prevent rotation, double weather-stripping between sash and frame members to optimize integrity of the window against air and water infiltration, and cooperation between the rails and head and still members to prevent the rails from being separated from the frame where the rotatable portion of the sash is in an open, rotated position for cleaning.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1990Date of Patent: August 25, 1992Assignee: Renneson Inc.Inventors: Eugene F.
