Transversely Movable Track Patents (Class 49/212)
  • Patent number: 4924625
Abstract: A swinging and sliding door for rolling stock, especially a car that rides on a track, in mass transit. The panel of the door slides along a guide that pivots across the plane of the door on two cranks with vertical axes. The door has a system of articulations that will ensure a sufficient angle on the part of the door panel as the door begins to open even when the cranks are relatively short. The cranks, a rigid coupling that has the guide mounted on it and connects the cranks, and crank journals that are rigidly secured to the door frame form a four-member articulation, with the cranks rotating in opposite directions.

  • Patent number: 4880046
Abstract: The present invention sets forth a garage door sealing apparatus wherein a plurality of electric motors are integrally secured to each door track of a typical garage reciprocating door. Upon closing of the door, the plurality of electric motors each pull the associated track into engagement with the framework of the garage and wherein movement is halted upon the associated door contacting at least one limit switch. This arrangement pulls the garage door into sealing engagement with the associated framework to minimize heat loss through a garage.

  • Patent number: 4753038
Abstract: A closure assembly for preventing transmission of interference fields, especially high-frequency magnetic fields. The assembly comprises a closure which is disposed to be movable with respect to a fixed structure, with the closure and/or the fixed structure being provided with elements for establishing contact and thereby preventing transmission of interference fields between the two. In accordance with the present invention, the closure is disposed to move substantially rectilinearly in a direction substantially perpendicular to a plane along a surface of the closure, and substantially rectilinearly in a direction substantially parallel to the plane of the closure.

  • Patent number: 4702514
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a sliding door. The bottom of the door assembly is pivotally mounted to a base. To open the door, the top of the door assembly is pulled away from the opening, to clear the structure. Then the door, which is mounted on vertical guiides, is rolled on these guides to provide an unobstructed opening. The door can be in close quarters, and when open does not interfere with movement into or out of the structure. This invention pertains to doors, windows, hatches, trap doors, skylights or any other temporary closable or openable opening in a structure where it can be utilized.

  • Patent number: 4617756
Abstract: A swingable sliding door for a motor vehicle comprising a door panel movable between open and closed positions for a door opening in a body. A swing arm is pivotably connected to the body and a carriage is pivotably connected to the swing arm. An elongated support is mounted on the door panel and the carriage is slidably mounted on the support for undergoing slidable movement thereon as the door panel travels between its open and closed positions. The carriage is preferably in the form of a sleeve and the elongated support is preferably in the form of a bar which slidably supports the sleeve. The swing arm is pivotably supported at the bottom of a vertical pivot shaft secured to the body.

  • Patent number: 4495729
Abstract: A pivotable sliding door with a main track is suspended in a door frame with a running track by a suspension means having two staggerly jointed partial carriages, the rollers of one of the partial carriages rolling in the main track and the rollers of the other partial carriage rolling in the running track.

  • Patent number: 4268996
Abstract: A track assembly for a sliding closure member comprising a track extending in a longitudinal direction. A support arm is mounted at one end in the track for travelling movement along the track by a connecting means which retains the arm generally perpendicular to the track during part of the travelling movement. The connecting means also permits rotation of the arm about an axis perpendicular to the common plane of the track and arm in one end region of the track. The connecting means comprises a ball roller mounted on the arm for rolling movement along the track when the arm is generally perpendicular to the track. The ball roller also permits rotation of the connecting means about the axis perpendicular to the common plane of the arm and the track. A holding means engages the connecting means to prevent such rotation when the connecting means is not positioned in the end region of the track.

  • Patent number: 4028850
Abstract: A sliding door for vehicles is disclosed, the improvement consisting in that special ball bearings are inserted between the sliding component parts of the guide and/or between the sliding component parts of the linear ejectors which thrust the door open (or closed). With such an arrangement, the frictional forces are considerably reduced and the operation of the whole door assembly becomes smoother.

  • Patent number: 3994094
Abstract: A sliding wing door, as used in railway and similar installations, is disclosed, of the kind in which the door, as it is opened, is first thrust out of its doorspace and slid alongside the vehicle body, the improvement consisting in that one of the component parts of the telescopable guide of the door panel is secured to the movable members of at least two linear ejectors intended to thrust the door panel out of the doorspace. Advantageously, the axes of the two (or more) linear ejectors are inclined through an angle of from 45.degree. to 90.degree. relative to the door space plane. A vertical shaft, mounted parallel and adjacent to the door post provides the initial movement of the door in a direction parallel to the ejector axes: the angle of rotation of the shaft is appropriately limited consistently with the necessity. Certain translation movements of component parts of the mechanism are aided by sets of rollers sliding on specially provided rolling paths.

  • Patent number: 3935674
Abstract: A sliding vehicle door has a guard beam therein having flanges at its upper and lower edges. An extruded carriage member is associated with each of the flanges and slidably engages the flange to permit longitudinal movement of the guard beam and the door on the carriage member. A hinge arm is associated with each of the extruded carriage members and has one end pivoted to the carriage member and the other end pivoted to a body pillar defining the door opening. An articulating link acts between the body pillar and one of the carriage members to maintain the door in substantial parallel relationship with the vehicle longitudinal axis during pivotal movement of the hinge arms to move the door laterally of the body between a closed position in the plane of the door opening and an open position laterally outboard of the door opening.
