Closure Actuated Vertically To Retard Horizontal Travel Patents (Class 49/234)
  • Patent number: 8533997
Abstract: A lift and sliding fenestration assembly includes a single or multi lift/slide panel assembly including at least a primary panel and an optional secondary panel, where the primary panel is slidable along a first plane. The fenestration assembly further includes a linkage system operatively coupled with the lift/slide panel assembly, and a handle is coupled with the linkage system. The handle has an open position and a closed position, and the handle is movable between an open position and a closed position. The handle travels in a second plane, and the second plane is transverse to the first plane. In a further option, the primary panel is slidable along the first plane when the handle is rotated and placed in an open position.

  • Patent number: 8251784
Abstract: The invention generally relates to ventilation systems and methods, and more particularly to selectively configurable climate control systems and methods for use in data centers and the like. A system includes a first structural element and a second structural element spaced apart from first structural element to define a space between the first and second structural elements. The system also includes a plurality of partitions moveable into the space between the first and second structural elements and a controller arranged to control movement of the plurality of partitions.

  • Patent number: 8181392
Abstract: An automatic gate arm damage prevention system includes a lift arm that is coupled to a lifting apparatus. The lift arm has an outer end, an upper side, a lower side, a first lateral side and a second lateral side. A channel extends into the outer end and the upper side so that the channel is bounded by the first and second lateral sides and the lower side. An elongated member has a first end and a second end. The first end is positioned in the channel. A pivot pin extends through the channel and through the elongated member and the lift arm to pivotally couple the elongated member to the lift arm. The second end is pivotable upwardly with respect to the lift arm.

  • Patent number: 4575966
Abstract: A magnetically sealed sliding window system including a perimetric frame including header and base portions each defining a narrow channel for receiving a glazing pane and an adjacent second channel. A sliding panel is seated within the second channel. Longitudinal magnets are secured on the inner face of the sliding panel. Where the perimetric frame is formed of nonmagnetic material, magnets also are secured along the header and base second channel sections. No magnets are required on the perimetric frame when same is formed of magnetic material such as steel. In sealed condition, the sliding panel is positioned above the floor of the base channel with the panel magnetically held. The magnets have longitudinally extending magnetic poles establishing a magnetic coupling between adjacent unlike poles. The height of the sliding panel is less than the height of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4211038
Abstract: A railway house car having a door supporting track on a car side beneath a door opening, a door formed with a lower edge surface for support of the door on the top of the track and to provide a good light seal when the door is in the closed position. The edge surface has a plurality of openings with a portion of a roller extending from each one. Corresponding copes are located in the top of the track to receive the roller portions when the door is in the closed position. The rollers and corresponding copes permit at least two rollers to engage the top of the track and support the door for movement when the door is in other positions on the track than the closed position. A door leverage or force-multiplying mover is selectively interconnected to the door by means of a hasp to initially move the door from the closed position. Alternatively, a fulcrum is provided so that a pry bar can manually engage a bottom retainer to accomplish the initial door movement.

  • Patent number: 3947999
Abstract: A sliding door assembly comprises a door, a door frame, a horizontal rolling track on the frame, and door-suspension units each having a member movably mounted along the track and a door-suspension lever pivotally connected to the member and to the door. A roller connected to the lever by a toggle joint mechanism coacts with a cam as the door is slid to or from a closed position to pivot the lever and thus raise and unseat the door as it is opened, and lower and seat the door as it is closed.
