Abstract: The present gate includes a barrier frame and a gate in the barrier frame. The gate is opened by inserting a foot into a foot opening in the gate, which action compresses springs disposed about pivot pins between the gate and the barrier frame and draws an extended latch downwardly and out of a latch receiver that is bottomless, which action unlatches and frees the gate from the barrier frame such that the gate can be swung open. Downward travel of the gate is minimized until a foot pushes a pivoting stop out of the way.

Abstract: Door construction includes a door panel and at the top and at the bottom each time a self-closing pivot hinge. Each of the pivot hinges includes a spring which extends along the rotation axle and which provides a self-closing function to the pivot hinge. Each of the pivot hinges includes a first cam element and a second cam element which are pushed onto each other by the spring and push the door panel towards the closed position under the influence of the spring pressure. The first cam element includes at least one protrusion which upon rotation runs along a running surface with inclined parts of the second cam element. The second cam element is movably mounted in longitudinal direction of the pivot axle by means of a pen which is accommodated in a slotted hole of the second cam element. The slotted hole extends at least partly between the inclined parts of the running surface.
Abstract: A speed barrier includes a heavy lower barrier and a lighter upper gate. The barrier and gate may normally be positioned to allow or to restrict passing of vehicles. The barrier is configured to receive and survive the main impact of a vehicle attempting to ram through the speed barrier. The gate and barrier are coupled to allow an extension or a retraction of the gate and barrier in unison. The barrier and gate are supported by left and right columns, and an upper end of the gate is supported by the columns when the gate and barrier are extended.
Abstract: A gate hinge hinges a gate to a vertical post at an installation site where the post projects vertically in an upward direction from a surface having a first surface portion extending laterally of the post in an inward direction normal to the upward direction of the post and a second surface portion inclined rearwardly of the post upwardly at an angle of inclination, the gate hinge including a hinge axis, mounting members mounting the gate hinge relative to the post with the hinge axis skewed relative to the direction of the post such that the hinge axis passes through a first location adjacent the upper end of the post and a second location vertically below the first location and placed rearwardly and outwardly, with respect to the post, relative to the first location, a bracket mounting the gate to the hinge for swinging movement about the hinge axis between a closed position and an open position, the bracket having bracket arms for locating the gate relative to the hinge axis such that the gate, when in th
Abstract: A pet door apparatus that allows an animal to enter and exit an enclosure. The pet door includes a frame element defining an opening in the enclosure that has a top frame portion, and a flap element that closes the opening. The flap element has a top portion and extends, in a first orientation, substantially vertically downward from the top portion. The flap top portion includes a horizontally extending pivot element for pivotably moving the flap in response to an applied horizontal force. The flap top portion includes a camming element that vertically moves the top frame portion relative to the frame top portion during pivotal movement of the flap away from the generally vertical position. The opening defined by the frame element has a wider top that tapers to a narrower bottom. The flap is correspondingly tapered to seat within the frame element.
Abstract: An automatic gate opening device is provided which simultaneously lifts and opens the gate. A drive mechanism forces the gate upward, while a roller bearing following a helical slot in a tube causes rotation of the gate. Hinges are provided which allow simultaneous rotational and linear displacement of the gate.
