    Abstract: A device to limit an opening of a window having a hinged sash coupled to a window frame including a window opening limiting structure having a first member and a second member. One of them is securable to the sash and the other of the first member and the second member being securable to the frame. A selectively releasable coupler by which the first member and the second member are couplable is shiftable between a coupled status and a released status. The first member and the second member bridge a preselected distance such that the sash is inhibited from opening beyond a predetermined distance. The coupler is releasable so that the sash can be opened beyond the predetermined distance and re-engages automatically when the sash is closed.

    Abstract: An operator for a jalousie window includes a linkage with two toggle joints. The toggle joints assist in locking the window in its fully opened or fully closed position. The toggle joints of the operator are actuated by an actuating lever which is mounted to the window frame of the jalousie window so as to provide a mechanical advantage to operation of the jalousie window. The mechanical advantage afforded by the operator allows relatively heavy jalousie window louvers and associated moving components to be actuated by means of a tolerable range of actuating forces. The operating linkage is equipped with brakes which permit the louvers of the window to be maintained in any number of fixed orientations between the fully opened and fully closed position of the window.

    Abstract: A window hinge assembly for use with windows which pivot outwardly of the room about a substantially vertical axis. Each hinge assemlby has a rail which mounts on one end of the window frame and a mounting bracket to connect to the window sash. Linkages between the mounting bracket and sliders on the rail allow the window to be opened to a position substantially perpendicular to its fully closed position and adjacent one vertical edge of the window opening to allow maximum opening for ventilation and as a possible emergency escape. A tool with at least one inclined surface is used to release a leaf spring connected to the support slider and positioned against a stop in the rail to allow inboard movement of the open window away from that adjacent edge of the window opening in order to facilitate cleaning of the exterior surface of the window. The support slider has one pivot pin joint for both a thrust linkage and brace.

Rotatably arranged between the sleeves is an adjustor ring having a key projecting into the interturn spacing of a helical compression spring mounted within the sleeves and secured at one end to the pivot pin. The contact force of the slide on the side post is adjustable by the rotation of the adjustor ring relatively to the sleeves.
