    Abstract: A self locking device that is used with a overhead, horizontally pivoted, door in combination with a power operated door opener is disclosed. The device comprises a latch mechanism that is activated by the movement of the door arm and a striker that receives a locking dog. A door arm, which is a part of the door opener, is the member that transfers the movement of the power operated door opener to the door. When the door arm is closing the door, the locking dog is free to interface with a striker. A striker mounted on the header of the door frame receives the locking dog and keeps the door from being forced open which can be done by breaking the door opener mechanism. The latching dog is released by the door opener mechanism with the reverse movement of the door arm and therefore the door is moved to its open position.

    Abstract: When a driver inserts a key into a cylindrical lock-type outside door switch and rotates it clockwise or counterclockwise, a slide door for an automotive vehicle is opened or closed automatically by motor power from the outside of the vehicle. Additionally, when the driver inserts the key into the outside door switch, and rotates it to an open position, the slide door is unlocked automatically before being opened; when the driver extracts the key from the outside door switch, the closed slide door is locked automatically. A motor is mounted on the slide door and a power supply is applied to the motor by means of a current collector. A pinion and rack are also mounted on the slide door to open or close the door. Such structure allows the slide door to be opened or closed manually or automatically.

    Abstract: A device for securing the locked position of a motor-vehicle door activated by a rotating post and that is locked or unlocked by raising and lowering the post has a disk attached to the post and a rotating support in the form of a double-armed lever mounted below the disk on a stationary section of the frame so that the support can be displaced into a position in which the disk rests on the top of one of the lever arms. The axis of rotation of the support is positioned on the frame section and lies in a plane that is perpendicular to the direction in which the rotating post is raised and lowered. The bottom of the second lever arm of the support rests on and is forced by a compression spring against a stop on the frame section and the bottom of the first arm of the support has a recess. A rotating locking element, which is also a double-armed lever with two support surfaces on one arm, engages the recess.

    Abstract: A driving and locking mechanism which employs pivoted links for coupling and transmitting motion between driving and driven members. During motion, the links are constrained to a particular mutual position for transmission of driving forces, but at one end of the range of movement, the constraint is removed and the links pivot so that one link comes into normal or over-normal contact with an abutment and so locks the driven member in position. Forces on the driven member will not move it (except in the case where the abutment is resilient to allow limited movement of the driven member in the "locked" position) and movement of the driven member can only be accomplished by movement of the driving member. Thus a separate locking or latching mechanism is not required. The mechanism is particularly applicable to sliding doors, such as those of railway vehicles, where the door needs to be locked or latched in the closed position against forces applied to the door to tend to open it.
