Patent number: 5033234Abstract: A door coordinator for controlling the closing sequence of a pair of double doors having a common line of closure. The coordinator has a biased trigger which pivots and a door stop which translates toward the rear of the coordinator upon triggering. Override is provided by an override block (preferably pivotally mounted) biased into a first position which moves to a second position upon application of more than threshold override force. With the override block in the second position, the door stop is free to move in translation to the rear of the coordinator and permit closure of the door even if the trigger is not depressed. Threshold override force is adjusted by a screw which adjusts the angular position of a base plate in contact with biasing springs which bias the override block.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1990Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignee: Triangle Brass Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Ira J. Patent number: 4967512Abstract: An arrangement for controlling the closing sequence of two wings of windows, doors, and the like, especially smoke or fire protection doors, which are closable by means of a door-closing device each. The two wings are a moving wing to be opened first and a resting wing to be opened subsequently, so that projecting edges of the doors which face each other come into contact with each other in the correct sequence. A control device is actuated primarily by the slide rollers of the door-closing device of the resting wing when the resting wing is opened. With the use of a control lever and a sliding member displaced by the control lever toward the axis of rotation of the resting lever, a locking member is pivoted into the return end region of the guide roller of the door-closing device of the moving wing. This locking member locks the final closing movement of the moving wing until the resting wing has been closed.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1989Date of Patent: November 6, 1990Assignee: Gretsch-Unitas GmbH BaubeschlageInventors: Gerhard Schroder, Dieter Mauckner

Patent number: 4949505Abstract: The coordinator has a pair of spaced-apart limbs pivotably mounted to a housing; one of the limbs functions to hold a door open, whereas the other limb is disclosed for impingement by another door and, as a consequence thereof, causes activation of the door coordinator, i.e., triggers a proper, sequential closing of the two doors, in which the inactive door proceeds to close, while the active door is held open. A carriage slidably mounted to the housing has a lobe which intrudes into the pivotable arc of one of the limbs to prevent that limb from allowing its door to close before the door, held open by the other limb, has closed. A blocking arm keeps the carriage in its lobe-intrusive position, and has a linkage with the other limb. Accordingly, as the other limb permits the closure of its door, the linkage moves the blocking arm to allow the second door to close.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1989Date of Patent: August 21, 1990Assignee: Von Duprin, Inc.Inventor: Richard B. Patent number: 4230093Abstract: A free-standing unit for heating air in a U-shaped channel surrounding a fire box having a pair of spaced vertical vents for directing the heated forced air to converge in front of the fire box opening to limit air flow towards said openings. Mesh in the vertical vents directs the forced air downward to be combined with the hot forced air from a bottom horizontal vent. A baffle plate depending from the top of the fire-box adjacent the flue port and an opening along the top of the doors ignite the gases adjacent the top and directs some gases back into the fire. By forcing heated air at a low level and drawing cool air from a high level, the air being heated is of a uniform temperature. A hood extending along the top edge of the fire box opening diverts exiting gases back into the fire box. A thermostatically controlled blower creates the forced air and cools the fire box walls.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1977Date of Patent: October 28, 1980Assignee: Smoky Mountain Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: Carrol E.
