  • Patent number: 10844649
Abstract: A sill pan concealment system and method for concealing a sill pan wall that lies across a threshold. The system comprises a sill pan that rests flush across the threshold, and a sill that is disposed parallel and in alignment with the sill pan. The sill fits into the sill pan to create a protruding barrier across the threshold. The sill pan has an interior wall oriented towards the interior region; and an exterior wall oriented towards the exterior region. The sill has a sill interior end that orients towards the sill an interior wall. The sill interior end forms an elongated notch through a cross section of the sill. The notch is sized and dimensioned to align with, and receive the interior wall of the sill pan. In this manner, the interior wall of the sill pan is concealed in the notch, from the perspective of interior region.

The draft blocker is adapted to be positioned at the bottom of a door, with the draft blocking bodies on opposite sides of the door, and with the retaining member engaged behind or against a side edge of the door, such that the draft blocker is prevented from moving out of position as the door is opened and closed.

  • Patent number: 7877940
Abstract: An entryway for disposition in a door opening of a building includes a threshold and a corner sealing member mounted in the door opening between the building and the threshold. The threshold has a bottom facing downwardly and a back extending upwardly from the bottom. The corner sealing member has a middle portion disposed partially below the bottom of the threshold, a first vertical portion extending upwardly from the middle portion adjacent the threshold, and a second vertical portion extending upwardly from the middle portion transversely from the first vertical portion. The back of the threshold defines a recess and the second vertical portion of the corner sealing member is disposed in the recess to allow for adequate sealing between the threshold and the corner sealing member and to allow for proper placement of the threshold in the door opening without interference from the corner sealing member.

Abstract: The present application is directed to a manual or automatic flush threshold door seal system used on folding exterior doors along with an alternate embodiment for conventional exterior entryway doors that will not impede the passage of a wheelchair. A flexible weather seal can be put in a retracted or down position within an aluminum extrusion imbedded within the threshold providing a flush access surface and may be raised up into the upright position providing an adequate weather seal.

  • Patent number: 7389611
Abstract: An adjustable threshold has a lip portion with an adjustable vinyl insert to prevent material from becoming trapped or from engaging a seam present between a floor and a frame member portion adjacent to the floor. The adjustable threshold engages an H-rail trapped in the main U-shaped channel of the frame member which in turn covers and is generally supported by a substrate block. In a preferred embodiment, a first and generally front wall of the frame member is engaged only on one side by a threshold cap. The lip serves to help entrap a second descending wall of the threshold cap and to keep it in place to provide support and stability for the threshold cap. Alternative embodiments exist wherein a lip is advantageously present in a variety of embodiments.

  • Patent number: 7114293
Abstract: A magnetic door sweep and magnetic threshold is disclosed which reliably aligns and seals to prevent water, air and pests from crossing the threshold of a door. Additionally, the magnetic door sweep and magnetic threshold will prevent shape loss of the door sweep. The magnetic door seal includes a primary seal and a door seal magnetic element having a first set of poles located on the bottom edge of a door. A magnetic threshold includes a threshold cap and a threshold magnetic element having a second set of poles. The door seal is positionable relative to the threshold as the door is closed such that the first set of poles is attracted to the second set of poles when said door seal is positioned proximate to the threshold allowing the primary seal to extend between the door and the threshold.

Abstract: A caulk application device for the installation of doorframes includes an adhesive mastic strip with at least one receptacle containing caulk affixed to the upper face thereof. The caulk receptacle may comprise two caulk-containing chambers separated by a seam of sufficient width to accept nails or staples. The device is applied to the subfloor within a rough opening, with the caulk receptacle aligned to the interior side and an opposite lip of the mastic protruding to the exterior. The ends are turned up at the corners of the rough opening. The device is secured to the subfloor by fasteners, preferably applied at the seam between caulk chambers. The caulk receptacle is opened, exposing the caulk, and the doorframe set in place, riding on the bed of caulk. The protruding lip of mastic is turned down over the exterior, and covered with siding or the like.

  • Patent number: 6871448
Abstract: A sliding door assembly includes a barrier plate extending across the lower portion of the doorway to prevent the intrusion of water during severe weather conditions. A notch within the barrier plate, enlarging the passageway opened by the sliding door to form an obstruction-free passageway, is sealed by compressing a gasket between the barrier plate and a compression plate mounted to move with the sliding door. An actuator, mounted along the floor adjacent the compression plate with the sliding door closed, moves the compression plate toward the barrier plate, compressing the gasket, in response to operation of a latch lever.
