Inflatable Or Fluid Pressure Responsive Patents (Class 49/477.1)
  • Patent number: 7487615
Abstract: A run channel in an automobile door includes a U-shaped run channel body. An inner lip extends from a bottom end portion of an inner wall of the run channel body towards a peak portion. An upper lip is formed above the inner lip and extends from an intermediate portion of the inner wall to the peak portion. When a door glass abuts on the inner lip, the door glass presses the inner lip towards the inner wall to cause a distal end portion of the inner lip to press on the upper lip, whereby a reaction force of the upper lip is applied to the distal end portion of the inner lip. The inner lip in turn produces a reaction force slowing upward movement of the door glass, causing its upper edge to slowly abut on the peak portion of the run channel, thus reducing a glass striking sound.

  • Patent number: 7178810
Abstract: A closure seal for doors, hatches and the like comprising a pneumatically inflatable sealing element of generally known configuration housed in a specially constructed channel-shaped retainer. The sealing element comprises a flat, relatively stiff base portion of predetermined width and a flexible portion comprising spaced apart side walls, joined with the base, and an outer wall joining with the side walls to form a hollow expandable section. The base forms shoulders where it joins with the side walls. A retaining channel, formed of sheet metal and of generally U-shaped cross section, receives the sealing element and is formed with longitudinally spaced apart, opposed, inwardly projecting elements forming longitudinally spaced apart constrictions of slightly less width than the base of the sealing element.

  • Patent number: 6984359
Abstract: A sterilizer including a sterilization chamber for receiving articles to be sterilized and a door supported on a horizontal pivot at an access opening of the sterilizer chamber. The door includes a seal plate and a resilient seal member supported on the seal plate wherein the seal member includes an annular lip extending transversely to the plane of the seal plate. The lip extends into the sterilizer chamber wherein pressure within the chamber exerts a force biasing an opposing surface of the lip into engagement with an inner surface of the chamber. The sterilizer door is movable between a fully closed and a fully open position and includes a mechanism for holding the door in a partially open position. In the partially open position, the lip extends into contact with a surface of the sterilizer chamber to thereby form a bridge between the door and chamber and prevent condensation from dripping down away from the chamber and door.

  • Patent number: 6854319
Abstract: A closure assembly is described which includes a plurality of inflatable seals, a sliding door, and a frame configured to allow said door to slide back and forth therein. The sliding door includes a first portion having an opening therethrough and a second solid portion. The door further include a plurality of grooves, one plurality encircling the opening in the first portion and second plurality encircling the second portion. The inflatable seals are configured to fit into at least one of the grooves encircling each portion. The frame has a middle opening which can be aligned with the first portion of the door for allowing objects to pass through. The frame also has a top opening and a bottom opening which allows changing of the inflatable seals without removing the door from the frame. The assembly provides for a sealing of either portion of the door around the middle opening of the frame.

  • Patent number: 6779567
Abstract: A transfer port apparatus (10) is provided to enable a worker to transfer one or more objects through a sealed passageway provided in the apparatus (10) from one sealed chamber into another sealed chamber. Transfer port apparatus (10) is adapted to be coupled to a movable canister (12) and a stationary isolator (16). Expandable airtight seals (72, 120) are deflated, doors (30, 40) are removed and an object (20) is transferred into the airtight clean working environment established in the isolator (16) through the sealed passageway established in transfer port apparatus (10) following coupling of canister (12) to isolator (16) using transfer port apparatus (10). After the object (20) is moved, doors (30, 40) are replaced and expandable airtight seals (72, 120) are inflated creating a substantially airtight seal. Movable canister (12) can be uncoupled from the transfer port apparatus (10).

  • Publication number: 20040149757
Abstract: A cabinet for air handling equipment includes a door assembly having features such as inner and outer door panels being held together and sealed by double-sided tape, which acts as a thermal break, a latch that prevents a door gasket from being crushed due to positive or negative air pressure within the cabinet, and a doorframe that is easy to assemble and install for either right-hand or left-hand swinging doors. To assemble adjacent pieces of the doorframe, sheet metal tabs of one piece are inserted into slits of the other piece. The tabs are then twisted to hold the adjacent pieces of the doorframe together.

  • Patent number: 6698439
Abstract: A processing apparatus includes an inner cylinder 25 (a processing chamber 23) accommodated in a carrying unit for carrying an object to be processed and further seals up the object with the inner cylinder 25 or a first stationary wall 34 to process the object in contact with processing fluid. In this processing apparatus with sealing mechanism, flexible hollow packings 100, 101 are arranged doubly in either the inner cylinder 25 or the first stationary wall 34, at its occluded part with the first stationary wall 34 and the inner cylinder 25. The hollow packings 100, 101 have their hollow parts 102 connected with respective pressurized-air sources 103 through pressure-detecting switches 110 and closing valves 105. By expanding or contracting the hollow packings 100, 101, the operation of the apparatus is switched in between its sealing state and non-sealing state. With this arrangement, it is possible to improve the sealing capability and prolong the life of the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6485029
Abstract: An inflatable sealing device is used to seal a door, such as a shutter door in a submarine, when the door is closed. The inflatable sealing device includes a seal retainer positioned around the opening through a structure, such as a submarine hull or other type of wall. An inflatable seal is positioned with a retainer cavity within the seal retainer. The inflatable seal includes a seal periphery and a seal tip extending from the seal periphery. The seal periphery preferably has an elliptical cross section in a deflated state and a circular cross section in an inflated state such that the seal tip extends into a gap to seal the door when the inflatable seal is pressurized and inflated. The seal tip retracts into the seal retainer when the inflatable seal is deflated. A pressure actuator, such as a bellows, is used to pressurize the inflatable seal using an actuating fluid.
