Patent number: 11548454Abstract: Noise caused by vibration of a door hole seal is reduced. A door hole seal includes a first sheet having a slit formed therein and a second sheet covering the slit from an exterior side of a vehicle. At least a specific region of the second sheet is made of a rubber-like elastic body, the specific region extending from a portion corresponding to the slit to a vertically lower end of the second sheet.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2021Date of Patent: January 10, 2023Assignees: NISHIKAWA RUBBER CO., LTD., HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Naoya Sasaki, Hiromu Oda, Satoshi Endo

Patent number: 8167020Abstract: An example of a horizontal side-moving door with a side-winding or horizontally translating curtain includes an upper seal comprising an upper edge of the curtain sliding within a groove of a seal guide. To protect the door in the event of an impact, at least a portion of the curtain's upper edge can restorably pull out from within the groove. To avoid damage in certain situations, the seal guide might resiliently deflect as well. After an impact, the curtain's upper edge is automatically fed back into the groove by simply opening and closing the door. During normal operation, the curtain's upper edge advantageously deflects in response to air pressure against either side of the door. In some examples, the seal guide is of a uniform cross-section, which makes the seal guide easy to manufacture by way of a conventional plastic extrusion process.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2009Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Assignee: Rite-Hite Holding CorporationInventors: Dean Shanahan, James C. Patent number: 8099906Abstract: A water deflector includes a water-diverting area and an attachment area for attachment to a seal profile. The water-diverting area and the attachment area are connected to one another via a connection area, which is elastically deformable in such a way that when force acts on the water-diverting area, it is movable in relation to the attachment area. The water deflector can be used in the area of a door, wherein the water deflector deforms when the door is closed and comes to rest in a cavity between the seal profile and the door outer skin, and assumes its starting shape again when the door is opened.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2006Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Assignee: Airbus Deutschland GmbHInventor: Carsten Paul

Patent number: 8069615Abstract: A hollow seal for use in sealing between relatively movable first and second panels, such as between a fixed window panel and a slidable window panel of a rear window of a pick-up truck or the like. The hollow seal has an internal geometry that supports an outside layer or portion of the seal under pressurization to prevent leakage and seal blowout. The outside portion is shaped to provide a pair of laterally spaced-apart sealing lips that have a pressure-activated sealing geometry for tight sealing against the panels when under pressurization.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2008Date of Patent: December 6, 2011Assignee: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventors: Timothy D. Patent number: 7887126Abstract: A seal assembly includes a vehicle frame, a moveable panel connected with and moveable with respect to the vehicle frame, and a seal connected with the vehicle frame. The moveable panel is moveable between an open position and a closed position. The seal includes a seal body having an external surface including an ambient-contacting section that is in contact with ambient when the moveable panel is in the closed position. The external surface of the seal body also includes a moveable-panel-contacting section that is in contact with the moveable panel when the moveable panel is in the closed position. The ambient-contacting section can move from a first orientation when the moveable panel is in the closed position toward a second orientation as the moveable panel contacts the moveable-panel-contacting section and moves toward the closed position. A seal for a vehicle and a roof assembly are also described.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2009Date of Patent: February 15, 2011Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: David B. Publication number: 20100186301Abstract: A weatherstrip (30) for an automotive vehicle includes a rigid core (42) formed from a first material encompassed in an extrusion body (40) of an elastomeric material. A show surface (44), such as anodized metal or stainless steel, is roll-formed and then coextruded in a coextrusion die with the rigid core. A removable layer (94) protects an outer face (90a) the show surface during extrusion and post processing steps of manufacture. The integrated arrangement of the cosmetic strip reduces manufacturing and assembly costs, while providing the desired aesthetic appearance to the weatherstrip.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2008Publication date: July 29, 2010Applicant: COOPER-STANDARD AUTOMOTIVE INC.Inventors: Eric Drozd, James Mistopoulos
