The device is also formed so as to facilitate latching mechanism closure. This device can also be used to assist in the repair of damaged door jambs by holding together the damaged portions once they are placed back in position.

Abstract: A sliding window assembly includes two rectangular sash frames each enclosing an insulated glass panel unit and supported by a surrounding main support frame. At least one of the sash frames is supported for horizontal movement, and horizontally extending interlocking members are formed on the adjacent upper and lower horizontal frame members of the sash frame and main support frame. The interlocking members have interfitting horizontal hook portions positioned to permit each movable sash frame to move freely between a closed position and an open position. The interfitting hook portions are effective to engage and interlock each other in response to a substantial positive or negative windload or such a windload after an impact which breaks the glass panel unit, to limit deflection and prevent permanent deformation or release of the sash frame.

Abstract: A system for reinforcing the security of a locked door and door jamb combination which includes a first L-shaped plate secured to the studs of the wall adjacent the door jamb, with the L extending into the space between the studs and the door jamb; a second L-shaped plate secured to the inner face of the door jamb, including two members extending into the space between the studs and the door jamb, and one member positioned adjacent the L of the first plate; the two plates firmly secured to the door jamb and the studs, so that when force is applied to the door jamb, the plates overlap to provide a very secure relationship between the door, the door jamb and the underlying studs adjacent the door jamb virtually incapable of being compromised by an intruder. There would be provided a second assembly on the opening edge of the door and the header of the doorway to provide maximum security.

Abstract: A window construction comprising an outer window framework having lineal sections providing a header (20H), a sill (30S), and a pair of jambs (23L, 23R), joined by formed integral corner sections (10) having joint ends which extend from the corner sections at a predetermined angle with respect to each other. The corner sections and lineal sections have complementary cross-sectional configurations, and are formed of essentially the same material so they may be welded together (FIG. 6). In another configuration these ends may have integral splines (12) as part of the complementary cross-sectional configurations (FIGS. 3, 4 & 5) and are mechanically joined. In either configuration, the joints between the corner section and the lineal sections achieve rigid water-tight corner joints and provide a water-tight window.

Abstract: Door and frame assemblies are disclosed by the present application. In one exemplary embodiment, the a door is connected to a door frame, such that the door is moveable between an open position and a closed position. Activation of a trigger causes a door frame coupling arrangement to couple the door frame to the door in a closed position to thereby inhibit movement of the door relative to the frame. In another exemplary embodiment, a door is coupled to a door frame by a hinge. The hinge is configured to move the door in translation as the door is rotated from the open position to the closed position. For example, the hinge may move the door downward, toward the sill, when the door is moved from the open position to the closed position.

Abstract: Brackets mounted to the corners of a garage door improve the strength of a garage structure in the event of an earthquake. As the garage sways during the earthquake, the door frame contacts the brackets mounted at the upper corners of the door. The brackets transfer shear forces from the frame to the door. Additional brackets mounted at the bottom corners of the door contact the lower portions of the frame and stop the horizontal movement of the garage door. By using the door to transfer the shear forces, the strength of the garage door frame is substantially improved.
