Abstract: An apparatus for the production of frames for filters from a continuing reel of framestock, each frame having a given length and width determined by a preset cutting and corner notching function and each frame having a prefolded cross section or a pinched cross section, said frames made to accommodate filter material of the type normally used to filter air.
Abstract: Apparatus for processing a sheet of material such as cardboard intended for making a folding box or case, comprises a stamping plate for carrying the sheet and co-operable with a tool. The stamping plate lies on a table plate of a frame structure which has holders for releasably carrying a form which extends parallel to the table plate, and at least one bridge assembly which extends movably above the table plate. A carriage is carried on the bridge assembly and moves transversely with respect to the direction of travel thereof. The carriage carries at least one vertically movable pressure member directed towards the table plate.
Abstract: A method of slitting selected plies of multiply paperboard blanks by compressing narrow portions against an anvil surface (preferably soft) and cutting one or more plies along the compressed portions. The apparatus includes a cutting rule (straight or annular) with compression rules on each side to compress the blanks simultaneously with the cutting. The method and apparatus may be used in conjunction with conventional flat-bed or rotary diecutting.

Abstract: Apparatus for cutting printing plates, comprises a cutting press with relatively movable platens one of which carries a form cutting tool for severing or partially severing from a processed sheet of flexible material a central image-bearing portion for use as a printing plate. Retractable registration and holding means engage registration targets on said sheet so as to locate the sheet in registry with the form cutting tool and to hold the sheet in position at least until it is held by the pressure of the cutting tool thereon.
Abstract: A method, apparatus for forming, and article formed of folded, relatively rigid sheet plastic material (e.g. polyolefin is disclosed). A hinging membrane forming a flexible fold line provides stress-relief indentations in the sheet material so that the tensile and compressive strains normally produced when bending the sheet material at the folds are substantially relieved, thereby permitting efficient production of a variety of sheet plastic articles, such as folding containers and the like. Two embodiments of the invention are disclosed. In one embodiment, the stress-relief indentations are simultaneously formed on opposed surfaces of the sheet material at the desired fold line by an apparatus having an unheated die containing a scoring blade mounted for movement against the material to be scored, which is supported on a hard and polished platen, with the plastic sheet material arranged between the scoring blade and platen.
Abstract: A rotary die cutter is provided having a knife cylinder, provided on its peripheral surface with a punching blade, and an anvil cylinder around which is wound an anvil against which the punching blade is urged in punching material from cardboard passing between the knife cylinder and the anvil cylinder. The cylinders are driven by meshing gears disposed at the ends of the cylinders and having different numbers of teeth. A pair of helical gears are disposed at one end of the anvil cylinder. One of these helical gears is attached to the anvil cylinder and the other is connected to one of the meshing gears. A mechanism is provided for causing axial movement of the anvil cylinder. This axial movement is converted into rotational movement of the anvil cylinder by the relative movement of the helical gears.
