  • Patent number: 5171203
Abstract: A device for fabricating toilet seat covers from paper sheeting comprises three paper shearing and folding assemblies positioned one over the other, each assembly including a drive roll, as well as two additional compression rolls which shear and fold the sheeting. Three layers of the sheeting are fed simultaneously through rotary cutting rolls, and subsequently to the drive rolls associated with each of the assemblies. While one of the layers is fed to the bottom assembly drive roll, a double layer of sheeting proceeds to the drive roll of the middle assembly. There the double layer of sheeting is separated, with one layer being fed to the drive roll of the top assembly, and other layer proceeding through the other compression rolls of the middle assembly. Completed covers exiting from the superimposed assemblies are collated and transferred by transport and collating belts to a transversely adjustable ejection mechanism where the covers are ejected from the device.

  • Patent number: 4969862
Abstract: Folded articles, such as paper napkins, handkerchiefs, and the like are puced of an intially continuous web or sheet material which is moved into a folding machine in a feed advance direction at a controllable feed-in speed. The sheet material may be folded once lengthwise around the feed advance direction before it is cut by a cutter operating at equal time intervals. The cut sheet material sections are then accelerated and after the acceleration they are folded at least once crosswise around a direction perpendicularly to the feed advance direction, whereby the cut sections travel at a constant speed during the crosswise folding and subsequent stacking. The feed-in speed is kept constant as long as articles of a given size are being produced. When the article size is to be changed, the feed-in speed is accordingly changed.

  • Patent number: 4909779
Abstract: A web of flat plastic bag stock formed with transverse perforations and heat seals is separated into individual bags, then individually formed in plural folds and the folded bags are stacked for packaging. To form as many as three folds, four rollers are used. The individual, separated bag is forced between the first and second rolls by a reciprocating first "blade" which contacts the middle of the bag. After being formed with the first fold, the bag is forced between the second and third rolls by a reciprocating second "blade". The twice-folded bag is then forced between the third and fourth rolls by a third reciprocating "blade" and, after the third fold, is conveyed away on belts to a stacking station where plural bags are deposited as a layer on a table. The layers may be packaged by hand or by suitable machinery.

  • Patent number: 4305199
Abstract: The application discloses new modes of changing the length of pinch roller fed wedge material that involves transmitting motive power from a power shaft to a driven pinch roller through a power train that includes at least one pivoting lever, the effective length of which is quickly changed by moving a pivot shaft which supports such lever. Power is supplied through a first link from a main drive shaft to a pivoting slider, and then to a rocker arm or a lever which rocks about a pre-selected pivot point. Power is transmitted from such lever to a rack or other driving mechanism which then supplies motive power to a pinch wheel assembly. The pivot for the previously mentioned rocker arm is adjustable, and thereby the relative effective lengths of the rocker arm on either side of the pivot may be selectively varied in order to change the extent of rotary movement of the driven pinch roller even though the first drive link continues to travel along a fixed path.

  • Patent number: 4233729
Abstract: Apparatus includes pinch wheels that both advance wedge material stock and also substantially permanently form the stock material to precise dimensional tolerances by reducing the material thickness; means by which the formed material is retained in the formed configuration thereof; wedge severing means; and means for loading severed wedges into a wedge magazine. One of the pinch wheels is driven through a clutch-brake system arranged so that it may be driven unidirectionally only from a reciprocating drive arm. The wedges have precisely controlled dimensional tolerances and dimensional stability, with the result that the wedges lie squarely in stator core slots (when the wedges are inserted into such slots), and "wire over wedge" problems associated with skewed wedges in stator core slots are overcome.

  • Patent number: 4233728
Abstract: Apparatus involves advancing wedge material stock and also substantially permanently forming the stock material to precise dimensional tolerances by squeezing and deforming the material with pinch rollers. Deforming of the material includes pinching the material and thereby reducing the thickness of the material at preselected locations, with the reduced thickness portions of the material establishing precise dimensional tolerances of wedges produced by the process. A wedge magazine comprises the lower tooling of a coil injection machine and forms, in effect, an extension of tool gaps that accommodate winding coils in a coil injection machine. The magazine receiving the wedges may be a short term storage magazine which in turn feeds the wedges to a wedge magazine that forms the lower tooling of a coil injection machine.
