    Abstract: A cutting- and creasing -wheel assembly includes a cutting tool, such as a circular disc having a continuous or a serrated cutting edge. The disc is rotatable and supported between a pair of rotatable creasing- wheel halves, the creasing-wheel halves being of equal radial dimension. The disc is controllable for movement between a non-operative position wherein the cutting edge is withdrawn radially inside the outer peripheries of the creasing-wheel halves, and an operative position wherein the cutting edge is projecting radially outside the peripheries. The method of slitting a corrugated or otherwise compressible material involves the provision and control of a cutting tool, preferably a circular disc having a continuous or serrated cutting edge. The disc is arranged to be rotatable and movably supported between a pair of rotatable creasing-wheel halves of equal radial dimension in a cutting- and creasing wheel assembly.

    Abstract: An improved cut length adjusting apparatus in a folding machine of a rotary press is disclosed. The folding machine generally includes only a cutting drum having two knife blades disposed along its circumference nearly at equal angular intervals, and a folding drum rotating synchronously with but in the opposite direction to the cutting drum. The knife drum is formed of an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder which are mutually rotatable and which each have one knife blade respectively projecting therefrom. The improvements reside in that a helical gear adapted to mesh with another helical gear at the axial end of the folding drum is provided at the axial end of at least one of the outer and inner cylinders, and either one of the helical gear at the axial end of the outer or inner cylinders and the helical gear at the axial end of the folding drum is movable in the axial direction.

Provided in the cutting edge (15) and around the periphery are regularly equidistant cut-outs (24), of which the length and thus the length of the webs between the perforations can be adjusted by rotation of the cutter discs (10 and 11 ) in relation to each other.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for accurately attaching a die plate to a cylinder segment in a manner that assures accurate registration of two die plates so attached to cylinder segments used in a cutting and creasing machine to cut or crease material passing through a nip formed therebetween. Pins on the arbor in the cutting and creasing machine accurately locate the cylinder segments. A "Make Ready Machine" is used to accurately locate each die plate on a cylinder segment. The "Make Ready Machine" includes axial and circumferential position indicators which are used to accurately place each cylinder segment in a predetermined position when it is mounted in the Make Ready Machine. Once the cylinder segment is in the predetermined position, the die plate is placed on the cylinder segment and moved until each of three lands on the die plate are in proper alignment with a view finder on the Make Ready Machine.

    Abstract: A rotary die cutter is provided having a knife cylinder, provided on its peripheral surface with a punching blade, and an anvil cylinder around which is wound an anvil against which the punching blade is urged in punching material from cardboard passing between the knife cylinder and the anvil cylinder. The cylinders are driven by meshing gears disposed at the ends of the cylinders and having different numbers of teeth. A pair of helical gears are disposed at one end of the anvil cylinder. One of these helical gears is attached to the anvil cylinder and the other is connected to one of the meshing gears. A mechanism is provided for causing axial movement of the anvil cylinder. This axial movement is converted into rotational movement of the anvil cylinder by the relative movement of the helical gears.
