Abstract: A process and a device for folding a sheet longitudinally and transversely, in which the lower folds and the upper folds of a plurality of pairs of longitudinal folds of a Leporello fold are formed in sequence by fold straight edges that are movable towards each other, the front edges of the fold straight edges being moved along an arcuate path to the sheet in order that there is contact between them and the sheet only at the end of said movement. The longitudinally folded sheet is then laid on the parallel contact edges of the transverse fold plates that are arranged at intervals adjacent to each other, and pressed together therebetween, the areas between the transverse fold plates being pressed downwards by pressure elements which are moved upwards and out once again prior to the completion of the movement of the transverse fold plates towards each other. Thus it is possible to form all the transverse folds in one stage of the process.

Abstract: A machine for forming blocks of fibrous insulation from a continuous fibrous blanket. These folded blocks may be used in furnace linings or the like. A pair of oscillating folder vanes form folds which extend in alternating directions. The vanes are oscillated by a continuously driven motor through a crank linkage. A reciprocating support vane engages the newly formed folds and supports them while the folder vanes are being disengaged from the blanket. A feeder drum and bearing member co-act to form a material supply loop from which the folds are made. The same motor drives all moving parts making the controls simple and inexpensive.

Abstract: A belt type box blank folding machine including bar folder assemblies on a downstream end thereof for engaging partially folded substantially upstanding outer panels on the blanks and folding them downward against inner panels of the blanks. The bar folders are arranged to pivot from an upright position, in engagement with the upstanding panels, to a horizontal position and to simultaneously reciprocate along the path of blank travel to provide maximum engagement with the outer panels during folding thereof. The bar folders are parallel with the fold line of the outer panels during folding thereby preventing twisting of the panels and locking of the leading flaps of the outer panels against the inner panels.
Abstract: A system for handling and transferring plastic bags between folding stations including control means for monitoring the folding accuracy and alignment of each bag while advancing along a predetermined path and means responsive to the control means for diverting each improperly registered bag from such path.
Abstract: A folding apparatus for rotary roller printing presses, having at least one collecting or crosswise folder, positioned behind which there is at least one sword folder composed of a folding sword interacting with a pair of folding cylinders, the folded material being conveyed to the sword folder via a belt guide having upper and lower belts and, in the region of the folding sword, passing positioned limit stops for the folded material. The belt guide has at least two strands positioned one behind the other and being driven at opposingly stepped speeds, with the faster-running strand on the collecting or crosswise folder side, having a run-out groove opening wedge-shapedly, beyond which least one locating stop moving at the speed of the slower-running strand, on the sword folder side, is positioned, its path at least partly overlapping with the feeding-in region of the equally fast belt guide strand.
