Patent number: 8469868Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for bleed control in a packaging layout having a plurality of packaging decoration patterns for making a plurality of packaging boxes. The method includes obtaining bleed lines based on a bleed width from cutting lines of each packaging decoration pattern for each packaging box. The method also includes irradiating light beams toward the packaging layout in four directions substantially perpendicular to each side of the packaging layout to form irradiated bleed line segments. The method further includes calculating a ratio of the projection length of each of irradiated bleed line segments to a respective projection length of a respective bleed line for each packaging decoration pattern in a respective irradiating direction. The method also includes excluding the irradiated bleed line segments for releasing bleed limit if the ratio is less than the threshold, and otherwise releasing bleed limit for the irradiated bleed line facing the four directions.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2010Date of Patent: June 25, 2013Assignee: Founder International Co., Ltd. Patent number: 6409646Abstract: In the production of hinge-lid boxes for cigarettes, outer side tabs (19) and lid side tabs (25) are folded last of all in order to form side walls of the hinge-lid box (10). The side tabs (19) and lid side tabs (25), extending in a horizontal plane, are to be provided with glue on the underside. For this purpose, glue nozzles (41, 42) are arranged in the region of a pack conveyor path (30) and have the side tabs (19) and lid side tabs (25) butting against them temporarily for the transfer of strip-like applications of glue.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1998Date of Patent: June 25, 2002Assignee: Focke & Co. Patent number: 5313167Abstract: Apparatus for measuring a characteristic of a body of material having first and second substantially parallel coaxial lines with distal extremities in relatively close proximity to each other and adapted to be disposed in close proximity to the body of material. A transmitter is coupled to the first coaxial line for introducing electrical energy in the high frequency to a microwave range into the first coaxial line to cause an electromagnetic field to be established at the distal extremity of the first coaxial line and to extend into the body of material. A receiver is coupled to the second coaxial line for detecting any of the electromagnetic field coupled into it from the first coaxial line. A measurement device is coupled to the receiver means for ascertaining when any change occurs in the coupling of the electromagnetic field from the first coaxial line to the second coaxial line to determine said characteristic of the body of material.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1991Date of Patent: May 17, 1994Inventor: Noel H. Patent number: 5135461Abstract: A machine (300) and the process for manufacture of a unique completely pleated product (110) which is made from a continuous, flexible web (311) for the covering of windows and the like. The machinery consists of a production line (300) with at least a screen printing assembly (306), printing phase control apparatus (330), a unique pleating assembly (400 or 800) and an optional folding assembly (500) for stacking and receiving the final product. Screen printing and web travel phasing is performed in accordance with standard practices in the industry, while the pleating and folding of the finished product is performed by apparatus designed and constructed by the instant inventors. After predetermined patterns of adhesive or bonding material (212) have been applied to the continuous web (311), it is pleated by a paired roller assembly (400 or 800) and, through the optional use of an air knife assembly (500), folded into a collecting apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1989Date of Patent: August 4, 1992Assignee: Comfortex CorporationInventors: John A. Patent number: 4371364Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a printed, pre-creased, plastic-coated packing material web provided with opening arrangements. The method includes providing a first wider web of paper or cardboard, whose width is a multiple of the desired packing material webs, with impressed crease line patterns and opening arrangements, whereupon the paper or cardboard web is covered with plastics. The wider web so treated is then cut into a number of partial webs, each partial web is of a width corresponding to the width of a complete crease line pattern. The partial webs are rolled up into large rolls intended for transport which in a separate printing operation are provided with text and decoration and are rolled up into magazine rolls of packing material of the desired size.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1980Date of Patent: February 1, 1983Assignee: Tetra Pak International ABInventor: Hans A. Patent number: 4368052Abstract: A method and apparatus for lining bulk box blanks starting with flat, seamed blanks and resulting in flat, lined, tubular blanks. Glue is applied across the length of the seamed blanks excluding the seam regions. After a liner is placed on the adhesive bearing surface of the blank the blank and liner are moved together to a compression station in a direction transverse to the direction of glue application. The liner and blank are pressed together in the compression station and then forwarded to a folding station where the blank quarter sections defined by preformed seams and slits are folded together atop the remaining, intermediate half section to form a flattened tubular blank. While the blank is enroute to the folding station, glue is applied to a flap along the edge of one quarter section to secure the two unattached edges of the blank together to form the tubular blank.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1980Date of Patent: January 11, 1983Assignee: Peerless Metal Industries, Inc.Inventors: Thomas C. Patent number: 4261254Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for forming wall reinforcements in multiple individual cartons. The apparatus includes a single entrance for admitting semi-finished cartons having vertically extending end wall flaps. The cartons are serially admitted centrally of the apparatus to a transport platform and distributed alternately to multiple wall reinforcements formers. The wall reinforcement formers are located in association with opposite ends of the platform and include work stations located along the platform. At the work stations, the vertically extending carton flaps are bent out of the vertical by flap preformers, as glue is applied in an automatically determined pattern to the wall to be reinforced. The glue pattern is determined by: the spacing of multiple interruptable light beams arranged transversely of the carton's paths, the glue applicator and the carton itself. Subsequently, flap folders, employing rigidly mounted rollers, drive the preformed flaps into the carton.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1979Date of Patent: April 14, 1981Assignee: International Paper CompanyInventor: Ulrich G.
