Abstract: The invention provides a container preferably made from sheet plastics comprising a bag containing a tubular valve member, the bag being sealed with a seam at each end, the top seal having an opening therein for entry of an access tube into the valve member, and the valve member having a sealing seam which facilitates piercing of the access tube through the valve member into the bag. A second bag may be provided within the first bag.The invention includes a machine for making the containers continuously from sheets of material.

  • Patent number: 4453370
Abstract: Open mouth square ended bags are formed from a tube-like band and in a chain with the back wall and top end of each bag partially sealed together from each side wall to provide an open mouth therebetween. Each bag in turn may be filled through the mouth located between the back wall and top end, the bag expanding forwardly from the back wall by expanding gussets in the top and bottom ends.

  • Patent number: 4300892
Abstract: In the production of plastics bags, especially valved bags, from a web of plastics material by folding in the side margins of the web to form overlapping panels which are then longitudinally heat-sealed together for a major portion of one bag length, and then heat-sealing the web transversely and severing the web at intervals to produce individual bags, the two overlapping panels are heat-sealed together by forming two longitudinal seals which partially overlap to provide a forward longitudinal seal and a rear longitudinal seal with respect to the direction of travel of the web, the rear longitudinal seal of each bag being formed simultaneously with the forward longitudinal seal of the adjacent following bag. The apparatus comprises a pair of heat-sealing elements equipped for simultaneous operation and arranged for forming the rear seal in one bag and the forward seal in the following adjacent bag. The two elements may be a fixed distance apart, and at least one has suitably a hairpin shape.

  • Patent number: 4294574
Abstract: Sealed, flexible containers may be manufactured with a sterile, openable seal member by inserting part of a thermoplastic tube between a seal in such a manner as to permit the tube to communicate across the seal. In manufacture, the outer end of the tube may be enclosed with a thermoplastic pocket member having open inner and outer ends. A mandrel is inserted through the outer end of the pocket member and the tube. The thermoplastic sheet members, tube, and inner end of the pocket member are sealed together. Following this, the mandrel is withdrawn through the outer end of the pocket member which outer end is then also sealed, for a sterile seal, if desired. A novel design for a container seal is also disclosed.
