Upside down U shaped basement wall 40 and 42 are a unique feature that prevent leaks. This building, when elongated outward in the form of a large store, has parking along its perimeter allowing for time saved in people walking to and from cars, and saves conveyance waste in the form of a large manufacturing plant being able to have trucks deliver parts very close to the place where the parts are needed. Incidentally, because the building may be long and narrow and not square, it is safer if it catches fire because people can exit drastically quicker, and fire trucks can park near the fire and reach it quicker to put it out quicker.

Abstract: A display device for illustrating the internal construction of a conventional bedding system displayed on the sales floor of a store is adapted to be superposed on a corner of the displayed bedding system. The novel display device comprises three generally-planar members, one planar member corresponding with the horizontally-disposed body-receiving surface of the mattress and the other two generally-planar members corresponding to the two side surfaces of the bedding system forming the corner on which the display device is superposed. On each of the three generally-planar members of the device is a different picture, each picture portraying the likeness of the individual components of the innerspring assembly of the mattress on which the display device is superposed in such a way that these likeness simulate in two dimensions the structures and arrangement of the corresponding components in the innerspring assembly of the mattress.

  • Patent number: 5111543
Abstract: A foldable earthquake protective bed comprises a support frame (10) and two moveable members (20 and 22) pivotally attached to the support frame (10) and capable of being pivoted between a folded position in which the moveable members are arranged as conventional parts of the bed and an unfolded position in which they form a rigid protective cover above the bed's occupant(s). The bed may have a power drive in the form of a pneumatic cylinder (42) with a piston (43) sliding inside the cylinder (42). A piston rod (44) of the piston (43) is pivotally attached by a link (46) to a bracket (30) of the pivotable member (20) and by a link (48) to a bracket (32) of the pivotable member (22). Compressed air can be admitted to the cylinder (42) from a pressure vessel (50) via a control valve (52). This valve can be activated either manually by pushing a pushbutton (62) built into the bed frame, or automatically from a seismic sensor (58) attached to the wall of the building.

  • Patent number: 4882566
Abstract: A safety control system for an electrically operated hospital bed utilizes a wireless disconnect signal from an above mounted safety light to an outlet below which supplies electrical power to the bed, thereby to interrupt power to the outlet upon the detection of physical contact with the safety light, as perhaps caused by an IV pole raising with the bed. In a preferred embodiment, a two-way transmission path is utilized to verify no blockage of the line of sight transmission path between the outlet and the light, with power to the outlet being disconnected upon contact with the light or blockage of the line of sight path.

  • Patent number: 4853989
Abstract: The invention concerns a device to unfold and retract a bed, a sofa or something similar into a structure in a false ceiling. The object of the invention is a device that unfolds and retracts a bed, or the like designed to be integrated in a system of suspended devices. This invention comprises a panel composed of ceiling elements (5,6) that when closed, in a horizontal position, forms a false ceiling (2). The panel is hinged to move between two stable positions: the horizontal, closed position; and the vertical, open position. Attached to the inside face of the panel and parallel to it is a fixed frame (4). Slidable attached to the fixed frame is a mobile frame (9). Articuably mounted to the mobile frame, about an axis (13) parallel to the panel's axis of articulation (7), and at a point at the end of the mobile frame farthest from the panel's axis of articulation (7) is a furniture frame (12).

Abstract: A waterproof vinyl body bag or sleeve open to the air at both ends which is inserted inside a main vinyl waterbed having two apertures, of the same dimensions as the open ends of the body bag, on its top surface. The bag or sleeve is sealed at the edges of both open ends permanently to the top surface of the waterbed at the edges of its two apertures, thus creating a suspended free floating sleeve inside a waterbed, into which a person can climb and lie prone while remaining dry, surrounded by the water in the bed.
