  • Patent number: 4958390
Abstract: An improved rest cot is provided which includes a plurality of elongate support members arranged to form a frame having a canvas or cloth panel secured thereto. The ends of the support members are attached to each other using specially designed corner pieces. Each corner piece includes a downwardly extending leg constructed of multiple tubular sections. The leg of one corner piece is designed to nest within the leg of another corner piece so that storage of the cots in a stacked configuration is facilitated. Each corner piece also includes two open attachment sections each designed to receive one support member. The attachment sections individually include multiple engagement members sized to receive a support member. Once a support member is received between the engagement members, they are urged together against the support member using a collar which is secured to the corner piece by a mechanical fastener.

  • Patent number: 4928333
Abstract: A collapsible bed has a head frame and a foot frame that are of shaped metal tube. At each end of each frame there is a "U"-shaped recess. Two bars extend between the frames. At each end of each bar there is a disc with a peripheral channel. The discs seat in the recesses and lock therein. A sheet of material extends between the bars, the bars passing through casings on opposed sides of the sheet. The inner sides of the recesses of each frame slope towards one another to assist in guiding the discs into the recesses and to stretch the sheet of material.

  • Patent number: 4921301
Abstract: A portable and foldable maternity lounger is constructed with a three section folding frame and a frame cover of three portions. A head end portion and a foot end portion are formed in the configuration of pockets or envelopes of firm non-stretching material open on sides facing each other for sliding respectively over the ends of the frame. A mid portion substantially covers the mid section of the frame. The mid portion of the frame cover is formed by a lower panel of firm non-stretching material for supporting hips and an upper panel of elastic stretching material for expandable support of the abdomen. The upper and lower panels are joined by a continuous seam in the middle to form a continuous mid portion without uncomfortable exposure of the abdomen. The upper panel is formed with a border of firm substantially non-stretching material to distribute weight to the elastic stretching material.

  • Patent number: 4663787
Abstract: An article of furniture in the nature of a cot for supporting a sunbather is disclosed. The cot comprises a rectangular, rigid frame of parallel extending, spaced apart frame members defining a planar peripheral support for a sheet of translucent, open mesh netting material stretched across the frame in position for supporting the sunbather's body. Foldable, U-shaped legs of tubular construction support the frame in vertical spaced relationship above a supporting surface. A pair of rectangular, planar reflectors are swingably secured to the frame side members to angle downwardly and inwardly beneath the supporting netting to reflect the sun's rays upwardly against the lower side of the sunbather's body. The frame members and the reflectors are constructed for folding at the middle of the cot to permit the article to be folded to a compact condition for transportability.

  • Patent number: 4583252
Abstract: A sponge bath and rinse platform on which the user (patient) lies for cleansing. The device is formed with a peripheral wall (defined by side walls, a head end wall, and a foot end wall) and a central area having a number of specially contoured areas for raising selected portions of the body above a gently sloping grade plane. The lowest region of the central area is located near the foot end wall, and defines a liquid collection area. The contoured areas define supports for the head, upper trunk, lower trunk, arms, and legs. Thus, the device includes a head support, an upper trunk support, a lower trunk support, first and second arm supports, and first and second leg supports.
