Adjustable Height Patents (Class 5/11)
  • Patent number: 4325561
Abstract: The specification discloses a nestable transport table 10 having a table top 14. Front legs 20 and 22 extend downwardly from the under side of the table top 14 and are spaced inwardly from the lateral edges thereof. Rear legs 34 and 36 extend outwardly and then downwardly from the rear end of the table top 14 so that the rear legs 34 and 36 are spaced outwardly from the lateral edges of the table top 14. Telescoping members 38 and 40 extend downwardly from the lower ends of the rear legs 34 and 36 and are movable between a retracted position and an extended position. In the extended position, the telescoping members 38 and 40 may be locked to place the transport table 10 in a tilted nesting position. Wheels 26, 28, 42, and 44 are mounted at the lower ends of legs 20 and 22 and the lower ends of the telescoping members 38 and 40.

  • Patent number: 4312088
Abstract: A portable device for raising one end of a bed a selected height, to incline the mattress longitudinally without consequent displacement, to provide comfort for a sleeper suffering from ailments such as a hiatal hernia, cardiac failure, varicose veins or phlebitis. The device includes bed elevating blocks adapted to be inserted under one end of the bed and longitudinally extending mattress retainers adapted to be inserted between the mattress and the mattress support, such as a box spring, to secure the mattress against longitudinal movement when the bed is inclined. The bed elevating blocks may be constituted of two separate, connectable components which are adjustable relative to each other to provide selectivity in the elevation of one end of the bed. The mattress retainers are constituted of two separate, longitudinally aligned, detachably connectable, L-shaped elements, each of the elements having a short perpendicular leg, the two legs extending in opposite directions.

  • Patent number: 4285079
Abstract: A crib having a main frame, a generally horizontal mattress support, and a mattress carried by the support. The mattress and support can be raised and lowered within the main frame by flexible hoist members attached to a winding bar that is rotatably journaled in two housings. Each housing is elongated, extending across one end of the crib, the hoist members being threaded through the housings and attached to the winding bar. At their ends, the hoist members are secured by brackets to a spring frame that forms part of the mattress support. The brackets can be used with spring frames of a variety of constructions. They have an upwardly facing channel that can receive a tubular frame with radius corners and an adjacent slot that can receive a downwardly projecting flange.

  • Patent number: 4271830
Abstract: The chiropractic table of the present invention includes a base frame, an intermediate frame above the base frame, and a table frame above the intermediate frame. A plurality of independently movable support pieces are mounted to the table frame and extend above the table frame to provide a support surface for the patient. The table may be tilted about a horizontal axis from a horizontal position to a near vertical position. It may also be elevated or lowered when in its horizontal position. One or more of the support pieces include a cock and drop feature which permits the chiropractor to elevate the piece to a predetermined height. The chiropractor then places downward pressure on the patient at a point directly above the support piece which has been elevated. A system of cams and cam followers holds the elevated piece in its upper position until the pressure reaches a predetermined magnitude, at which time the support piece is released and drops to its original position.

  • Patent number: 4214325
Abstract: A collapsable frame for children's furniture, of the type which is formed of a rectangular enclosure with four independent side members. The side members are fixed together but detachable from each other and a base. In application to a playpen, the base is made up of two co-planar sections which on their two opposing edges have tongues on each in the continuous plane for support and abutt against their respective lower side beams of the two opposite side members. The lower side beams of the other two side members carry the support of the corresponding edges of the base panels, which edges abutt against the bars of the side members, thus providing rigidity of the entire frame.

  • Patent number: 4178032
Abstract: Patient litter apparatus adapted for use in an air-ambulance operable to permit elevating and lowering the litter and patient while maintaining the litter in a horizontal position at all times and with provisions for locking the apparatus with the litter at a selected position of elevation, and further with provisions for attenuating a large scale force, such as that created by a down-crash of the air-ambulance, to thereby reduce the risk of injury to the patient and preserve the structural integrity of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 3987503
Abstract: A plurality of like, parallel, transversely extending assemblies connects an upper frame and a lower frame together. The frames are alike, each being generally rectangular and having an open center, and are disposed in parallel horizontal planes with the upper frame above the lower frame. The assemblies allow the upper frame to be moved downwardly towards the lower frame while being always maintained in a horizontal plane. Each assembly includes two opposed roller means that are pushed to roll inwardly towards each other whenever the upper frame is pushed downwardly. A tension spring biases each roller means outwardly, to maintain the upper frame in its original position when no weight rests upon it.The entire device can rest upon a suitable support. The upper frame accommodates a removable padded upholstered board constructed to resemble the top of a box spring.

  • Patent number: 3930272
Abstract: A lock for a height-adjustable crib or playpen requires two distinct manual operations in order to release the lock on each crib leg. Each lock includes a rigid metal bracket which engages around the extensible part of the leg and is pivotally connected to a crib corner post. The bracket has a nose which projects into one of a series of openings in the extensible part of the leg then the bracket is swung against the leg part to prevent movement of the leg part relative to the post. The upper edge of the bracket is slotted to receive a latch pivotally connected to the corner post just above the bracket. The latch drops into the slot when the nose is engaged in one of the openings so that the bracket cannot be moved.
