Patent number: 11950701Abstract: A bed configured to allow a user to maximize a living space with a functional bed that can transition from a horizontal functional position to a vertical stowed position. The bed is configured to be easily operable between these purposes with simple movements. The bed system has a wall attachment that attaches to studs in a wall and connects to a headboard that is positioned away from the wall. A pair of L-shaped support brackets connect to the wall attachment and to a mattress frame creating a pivoting connection point. A lift mechanism connects to each L-shaped support bracket and to the mattress frame. Further, a locking mechanism locks the mattress frame in the horizontal position and the vertical position to secure the mattress frame in either position. The bed provides a traditional looking bed that can be folded into the vertical position to open a floor space when needed.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 2023Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: TGD North America Furniture Inc.Inventors: Neil Goldwax, Michael Selim

Patent number: 8997749Abstract: A surgical assembly (20) comprises a post (100) having a longitudinally extending axis (104), a support (56) for resisting movement of the post in a negative longitudinal direction, and a platform (70) offset from the support in a positive longitudinal direction. The platform includes an opening (82) through which the post projects. The opening includes a throat (86). The post has a first dimension which renders the post incapable of passing through the throat and a second dimension which renders the post capable of passing through the throat. Alternate embodiments in which the post can be removably engaged with the support and platform and disengaged therefrom without translating the post in the longitudinal direction are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2011Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Allen Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Jesse Scott Drake, Dustin T. Patent number: 8800077Abstract: A pull down bed with automatic locking device has a movable framework, which constitutes a mattress frame, and is hinged to a container body, which constitutes a piece of furniture, so as to define a closed position, in which said mattress frame is substantially inside the piece of furniture, and an open position, for use as a bed, in which the mattress frame is in a horizontal position and rests on the ground by means of two feet. The mattress frame is hinged to the piece of furniture at one end and has its feet at the other end. The pull down bed includes a device for locking said mattress frame in the closed or horizontal position, which is actuated by an actuation device, which includes the feet.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2010Date of Patent: August 12, 2014Assignee: Clei S.R.L.Inventor: Luigi Colombo

Patent number: 8728293Abstract: A method of immersing an electrode in an electroplating solution while under vacuum, to substantially eliminate air and/or other gas from microscopic holes, cavities or indentations in the electrode. A method of electroplating an electrode in an electroplating solution including the application of a vacuum to the electrode while it is immersed in the electroplating solution to thereby substantially eliminate air and/or other gas from microscopic holes, cavities or indentations in the electrode. The electroplating liquid may be applied to only one side of the electrode (“the wet side”) in which case, sufficient time is allowed to pass for the immersion liquid to fill the microscopic through-holes, cavities or indentations in the electrode. An enhancement of this mode is to force liquid through the microscopic holes from the wet side. A highly penetrating solvent may be used as an immersion liquid.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2013Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: The United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of the Navy, Naval Research LaboratoryInventors: F. Patent number: 7231675Abstract: A pull down bed that pivots from a vertical, stow away position to a horizontal position for use when sleeping is provided. Weight bearing leg panels are hingedly attached to the mattress platform and swing downward and away from the platform sides when the bed is lowered. A headboard is slidably mounted on parallel horizontal rails and can slide forward when the bed is lowered to present the look of a traditional bed.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2006Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: tedbed CompanyInventors: Thadeus Rucinski, Patrick D. Patent number: 6574807Abstract: An improved furniture bed assembly primarily comprising a housing having a caster assembly, a stationary frame assembly and a bed frame assembly. Housed within and secured to the housing, the bed frame assembly has means to fold within the furniture housing. The caster assembly is a retractable wheel assembly to facilitate movement of the instant invention. To use the bed assembly, a user opens the housing, exposing the bed. The user pulls the bed assembly partially out of the furniture housing allowing the bed frame assembly to lock in place, to allow the user to safely and comfortably lay down and rest on the bed.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Inventor: Alejandro E. Patent number: 5621930Abstract: A convertible furniture frame assembly (8) having a stationary base assembly (12) that supports at least one retractable supporting means (14, 16). This supporting means (14, 16) is used to support retractable furniture components (10a, 10b) as they are raised and lowered. The invention further incorporates at least one generally horizontal self standing support means (18) to stabilize the furniture frame assembly (8) and at least one torsion system (20, 20') that aids users in raising and lowering the furniture components (10a, 10b). The user is also aided by a self-energizing latching means (28) that automatically latches the retractable supporting means (14, 16) in its lowered position. The user is further convenienced by a retaining means that prevents loose articles on the furniture components (10a, 10b) from sliding into the base assembly (12) during retraction.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1994Date of Patent: April 22, 1997Assignee: George S. Patent number: 5446932Abstract: A folding wall bed provides a frame which is pivotable from a substantially vertical stowed position to a substantially horizontal functional position. A headboard structure rises when the frame is folded to its functional position. The folding wall bed further employs a pivotably supporting first set of legs. Moreover, the folding wall bed is self concealing when in its stowed position.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1994Date of Patent: September 5, 1995Inventor: Donald P. Voorhis

Patent number: 5375280Abstract: A apparatus for use in assisting a person in getting into or out of bed, adjusting position on a bed, or performing exercises on a bed. The apparatus comprises a sheet having one or more grasp able fabric handles situated in convenient positions which can be grasped by a person needing assistance in adjusting position, exercising, or entering or exiting a bed. The apparatus is secured firmly to a mattress be means of straps affixed on its bottom surface, so that stress caused by the use of the handles will not dislodge it from the bed.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1993Date of Patent: December 27, 1994Inventors: Donald O'Sullivan, Angela K. Niemeyer
