Abstract: A method and system enabling delivery of a sleep therapy type is provided. The method includes receiving a value of a parameter measured by physical sensors while a mammal is in contact with a first subset of the physical sensors. A second subset of the physical sensors, whose received value differs from a predetermined reference value of an environmental parameter, is determined. A physical part subset of the second subset, corresponding to a specified body part, is determined by utilizing the second subset and virtual data for identifying virtual sensors spatially distributed to map a space occupied by the mammal's body parts. In response, a therapy device positioned in sufficiently close proximity to the specified body part to effectively deliver the specified therapy type to the specified body part is determined and a control signal is generated and transmitted to the therapy device.

Abstract: A configurable cushion device is provided that protects from injury or discomfort caused by items in contact with a person. In one embodiment, the device includes a cushioned pillow wrapped in a protective case that includes a plurality of fastener straps for attaching the device to an object such as a seat belt. The protective case may include an internal or external pocket and may be made of a frictional material or include one or more grippers that provide additional friction against the object to keep the cushion device in a desired location with respect to the object or the person. The cushion device may also include a strap with a connector to allow the device to be secured around a larger object such as the waist of a person. The device may also include a drape cloth that is secured to the interior of the protective case and can be taken out and draped around an object or a person.

Abstract: A bed having a bendable portion between a back region and waist region and/or a waist region and leg region. The bendable portion is formed of side by side bars disposed generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bed and bendably connected together to allow the whole extent of the connecting bars to be shortened, extended, and curved. The bars are connected by protrusions on one bar extending into recesses of an adjacent bar. Side by side bars can be adjusted in their intervals and can be rotated in one direction up to a predetermined angle.

Abstract: A support deck for a sofa bed having a plurality of support members is interconnected at joints such that when a force is applied to one side of the deck the deck will yield but when a force is applied to the opposite side, the deck will be relatively resilient. The support members consist of molded plastic links which are serially and pivotally interconnected to form the deck from a number of generally parallel longitudinal columns of links. Each link includes a planar upper surface for supporting the mattress and a reinforcing rib on the lower surface for added strength. Pivot pins are used to interconnect the links and a stop is provided on each end of the link to restrict the upward flexing or movement of the joined links. The links are economically and easily manufactured thereby providing a commercially competitive sofa bed without the detrimental aspects associated with prior sofa bed structures.

Abstract: A pneumatic mattress system includes a plurality of rigid ribs position side-by-side and hingedly interconnected so as to form a continuous overlay basis which is flexible in one direction. A plurality of pneumatic cushions is attached to each rib so as to provide a cushioned surface. The pressure of the pneumatic cushions is controlled by a main pressure control system which includes a main supply conduit with a pressurized inlet and an exhaust, both controlled by a control unit, and a pressure sensor. The pneumatic cushions are connected through a number of tubes located within the ribs to a rib control system which selectively connects them to the main supply conduit. By synchronized control of the pressure of the main supply conduit and the rib control system, the pressure within each cushion can be measured and controlled independently.

Abstract: The present invention provides a bottom structure for a bed having a bottom lifting mechanism, comprising plural parallel bottom strips; each of the bottom strips being sequentially connected to allow bottom bending; and each of the bottom strips, having a tenon formed in the longitudinal axial direction of the bed on one of the faces to be face-to-face with the adjacent bottom strip, and having a mortise formed in the opposite face, so as to be loosely engaged with the tenon of the adjacent bottom strip.

Abstract: The present invention provides a bottom structure for a bed having a bottom lifting mechanism, comprising parallel bottom strips, each strip having coupling grooves, located in the opposing faces of the bottom strips in the longitudinal direction, the strips being sequentially connected by coupling members. Each coupling member has portions corresponding to the coupling grooves at both ends of the coupling member which are incorporated as components of the bottom structure of the bed.
