  • Patent number: 10470949
Abstract: A softgoods seat covering convertible into vehicle extraction device for immobilizing a patient while still seated in the seat of a vehicle, and for safe extraction and transport thereafter. The device uses a plurality of inflatable panels enclosed within a woven cover and connected together by inflation tubing to an inflator for simultaneous or sequential inflation. In normal, pre-blast operations, the durable, uninflated device simply acts as the outer fabric of the seat back and seat cushion, with deployable structures folded/tucked behind the seat back and under the seat pan. Upon arrival of the medic, sections of the device are sequentially deployed through inflation and secured around the patient by wraparound straps to immobilize the patient in the sitting position, and to facilitate extraction and removal in a supine position. • Patent number: 9839295
Abstract: A drop-in seat deck for furniture assemblies. Various embodiments reduce the complexity and bulk of the seating frame, and also reduce the labor associated with assembly. Unlike the conventional spring suspensions, which apply constant spring loaded forces on the frame rails to maintain the springs in tension, the spring load force of the disclosed drop-in seat deck is provided by solely by the structure of the drop-in seat deck. Thus, the frame can be designed to support only the weight of the seated person is transferred to the rails of the seating frame, without consideration for pre-loading the seat deck. In various embodiments, dimensional changes to the seat deck occur under load. In some embodiments, these changes are accommodated by enabling a free end of the seat deck to slide on a support surface; in other embodiments, the changes are accommodated by flexures that are integral to the seat deck.

  • Patent number: 8719980
Abstract: This invented multiple-phase dynamic cushion comprises a frame, at least a driving source, at least a transmission assembly, and clusters of plural strips interleaved in parallel. Taking a two-phase embodiment as an example, the two-phase strips interleave with each other, in parallel, to form the cushion's surface and alternate their tensions in turn; when one phase's strips periodically tighten to support the user's body, the other phase's strips will loosen, allowing the user's body covered by the loosened strips to take a rest, averting a pressure-ulcer risk. The driving source is energized by an altering energy, making the two strip groups alternate in loosening and tightening states periodically in turn. This invention can be converted into a portable dynamic chair when the four holes on the bottom of its four corners are inserted with legs; it can also be converted into a dynamic support for a lying human body.

Abstract: Supporting spring systems for mattresses or the like usually have slats which are mounted at their opposite ends on a frame by means of elastic bearing means. It is known to individually adapt the bearing means with regard to their spring properties to the individual lying thereon. However, this alone is not adequate for sick people. The supporting spring system according to the invention is designed in such a manner that at least individual slats can be individually raised and lowered in the regions of their bearing means. This enables the supporting spring system to execute any desired movements which are transferred via the mattress to the individual lying on it. These movements of the mattress enable, in particular, prevention or treatment of bed sores. In addition, these movements are also suitable for stimulating patients with certain clinical characteristics, in particular patients whose mobility is limited and thus suffer from lack of stimulus.

Abstract: A ribbon combination for holding the ends of a plurality of laths in a grid-like arrangement comprises a row of pouches which are open to at least one side. The ribbon combination, is manufactured as a combination of ribbon parts (3 and 4) which lie essentially flat against each other which ribbon parts are joined to one another in a suitable manner. The first ribbon part (3) consists of a shrinkable material (e.g., cotton material) and the second ribbon part (4) consist of a non-shrinkable or less shrinkable material (e.g., nylon or pre-shrunken cotton material). The ribbon combination is then subjected to a shrinking process. By this, the pouches which were flat beforehand, comprise now a shrunken pouch bottom and a pouch part arching over the bottom. The ribbon combination is very easy to manufacture and comprises a constant length, independent of whether lath ends are inserted in the pouches or not.
