Abstract: A seating unit includes a spring unit mounted in a frame, the spring unit having spring structures with end and middle stacked arches and interconnected to one another by tie bars, the spring unit being mounted in a frame having side rails, bottom slats, a continuous front rail, side rails, reinforcing blocks and brackets formed and arranged as a space frame.
Abstract: A uni-directional rigidifier for a foldable mattress for use in sofa beds has an arcuate, elongated shape. Lateral slits along the rigidifier allow it to easily flex when a load is applied while in an upright position. When the rigidifier is in an inverted position, an applied load causes the slits to close and the rigidifier to stiffen. The method describes the use of the uni-directional rigidifier in a foldable sofa bed mattress.
Abstract: A slatted base for furniture for lying on has two longitudinally running, essentially parallel longitudinal supports (50) with mutually facing inner sides (32). The slatted base also has a plurality of spaced-apart slats (10, 71, 72) which are arranged transversely to the longitudinal supports (50) and together form a bearing surface for a mattress. The slats (10, 71, 72) are connected to the longitudinal supports (50) by means of [sic] essentially two-legged leaf-spring elements (20, 81, 82), in each case one leg (22) of a leaf-spring element (20) being fitted on one of the slats (10) and the other leg (23) of said leaf-spring element (20) being fitted on the inner side (32) of one of the longitudinal supports (50). The slatted base, on the one hand, is of low overall height and is thus suitable for positioning in a framework of a piece of furniture for lying on.
Abstract: A slatted bed base comprising a series of units (13) each of which includes an upper slat (3) on a lower support (5) mounted on a rigid, central and longitudinal beam (7) which is fixed in relation to the floor. The lower support (5) and the upper slat (3) are connected by a flexible linking element (14) allowing relative movement between the support (5) and the slat (3). The units (13) are spaced apart so that they can move independently of each other.
Abstract: An outer hearth pad is provided with a frame for overlying the elevated peripheral edges of an outer hearth. A padding material is secured to the outer surface of the frame by a covering material overlying the padding material, the covering material being secured to the inner surface of the frame. The outer hearth pad is secured to the outer hearth by portions of the outer hearth pad engaging portions of the outer hearth.
Abstract: A resilient support for receiving a force acting thereon along a certain direction, and wherein the force is opposed by a bearing counterforce acting at least partly along a direction opposite to said certain direction, and which includes a plurality of bar elements, at least two bar elements confronting one another, each of the two confronting bar elements having end regions, and forming a rod pair, a linking bar joining the confronting bar elements at a first set of connecting locations spaced at a distance from any end region of any of the confronting bar elements, two other bar elements, each connecting the end regions off the two confronting bar elements at a second set of connecting locations so as to form a closed structure therewith, the other bar elements forming a bar pair, at least two of the means being resilient in at least one of flexion and torsion, one force acting on a location of at least one of the other bar elements, the other force acting on the linking bar, at least one of the forces act
