Abstract: A mattress has an internal support structure and an external cladding that surrounds and covers at least a portion of the support structure. The mattress also has a vibrating device that is coupled to a part of the support structure. The vibrating device has a motor that operates to transmit vibrations throughout the support structure when turned on. The mattress can be adapted to gradually slow at a controlled rate to a complete stop over a period of time when turned off. The mattress can also be adapted to include the vibrating device internally where the device is water resistant. The mattress can also be adapted such that the vibrating device can be easily removed and installed from a pocket provided in the mattress.

Abstract: A method for selecting a sleep system comprises positioning a person on a mattress in a lying position. One of the person's arms extends generally perpendicular to the person's torso. A first pillow is positioned underneath the person's head, and a force is applied to the person's arm in a direction generally toward the person's feet. An amount of resistive force supplied by the person's arm is estimated and used to determine whether the proper combination of mattress and pillow is achieved.

Abstract: A vehicle massaging system includes a seat pad and motorized vibrators in respective regions of the pad; and a controller for selectively activating the transducers. Each of the vibrators is in a cavity of a main cushion member, the cavity being closed by an outer cushion member that supports an occupant, a soft or resilient isolation device being interposed between the vibrator and the main cushion member for reduced coupling of vibrations to structure or other portions of the seat, but enhanced coupling to a target region of the outer cushion member for improved selectivity of particular regions of a user's body to be massaged, and in multiple seating installations, unwanted vibration of one seat is suppressed during activation of vibrators in an adjacent seat. The transducer is bonded to the outer cushion member or a reinforcing sheet that is laminated thereto, the isolation device contacting a bottom portion of the transducer. Alternatively, the isolation device can completely enclose the transducer.

Abstract: There is provided a pad for a medical patient to be placed in a supine position thereon during a medical procedure which requires the use of cable in monitoring the patient during the procedure. The pad includes a cushioned substrate having a top surface adapted to contact the patient and a bottom surface adapted to contact a procedure table. The substrate has an outer edge about its periphery. An elongated channel is attached to the substrate along a portion of the outer edge. The channel is adapted to house a portion of cable which is used during a medical procedure.

Abstract: An ottoman with a thermally insulated chamber includes an airtight inner wall and an airtight outer wall, the inner wall being coaxial with and shorter that the outer wall; an airtight top wall secured to the periphery of the top of the outer wall, and an airtight bottom wall secured to the peripheries of the bottoms of the inner and outer wall; and an airtight mid-level wall intermediate the tip and bottom walls and secured to the periphery of the top of the inner wall. The inner wall and the mid-level wall define the interior of an axially-extending thermally insulated chamber closed at the chamber top and open at the chamber bottom. Preferably the inner, outer, top, bottom and mid-level walls cooperatively define an airtight thermally insulating chamber filled with a thermally-insulating body of stagnant gas.

Abstract: A mount for locating a motor assembly within a coil spring assembly. The spring assembly has at least one coil with a helical portion which defines an inner circumference between first and second ends of the helix and a generally planar, circular portion that is attached at an end of the helix. The mount comprises an upper plate dimensioned to overlie the circular portion. The upper plate has a central aperture which opens into a dependent tubular housing. The tubular housing has an exterior circumference less than the inner circumference defined by the helical portion of the spring and an inner circumference dimensioned to receive the motor assembly therein.

Abstract: A mattress cover for use with air inflated mattresses that includes an integral hand check tunnel formed as part of the cover. The cover includes a top, a bottom, and sides extending between the top and bottom. Openings are formed along the longitudinal sides of the cover and permit access to an enclosed tunnel that extends between the sides of the mattress cover. Flaps are attached to the sides of the mattress cover over the openings along with devices for selectively opening and closing the openings. A caregiver can verify proper inflation of an air mattress placed within the cover by opening the flaps and extending a hand into the tunnel. The cover can be used with a single air inflated air mattress with the tunnel overlying the mattress, in a dual configuration where one air mattress is placed over the other with the tunnel being placed between the mattresses, or with an air mattress placed upon a foam base with the tunnel being placed between the mattress and foam base.

Abstract: A mattress having multiple massage units provided on a top surface thereof is provided. Each of the massage units is formed at a lower side with an open-ended space through which two long locating strips are extended. The long locating strips are sewed up onto the top surface of the mattress at points that are in front of and behind each massage unit by a predetermined distance, so that the massage units are attached to the mattress by the long locating strips while being movable between two sewed points of the long strips before and after them. The massage units are provided in their inner spaces with at least one pair of massage elements to massage different areas on a user's body.

The isolation of the vibrators from the main cushion member provides improved selectivity of particular regions of a user's body to be massaged.

Abstract: An outdoorsman's support or chair is comprised of a substantially filled flexible container provided with shoulder straps for easy transport. The flexible container is filled with pellets and is preferably waterproof. It is adaptable to conform to the shape of a person providing comfortable support and insulation from the environment. The flexible container may be provided with a plurality of other straps which may be utilized for attaching other objects or gear to it during transport and for mounting the chair to various other structures, such as the trunk and limbs of trees. The chair is comprised of a spherical structure at one end and an elongated portion at a second end. The elongated portion at the second end may be folded over and juxtaposed to the spherical structure and secured by a folding strap for ease in transport.

Abstract: An assembly for vibrating a bed system, such as a box spring mattress. The assembly includes a clip system, a vibrating device with a housing that has several slots to engaging a lattice wire inside a box spring mattress as well as the clip system. The clip system is used to secure the vibrating device to the box spring mattress. The clip system includes a tension portion that has a mounting portion to engage the slots of the vibrating device and an indentation portion, extending from the mounting portion, to engage the other slots of the vibrating device. The clip system is secured to the box spring mattress with locking ties. Alternatively, the clip assembly includes a support clip for engaging the lattice wire and the slots of the vibrating device, instead of the slots directly engaging the lattice wire.
