Abstract: A bed with an integral toilet includes a frame, a mattress and a support for supporting the mattress on the bed frame. The mattress and support define an opening extending through the mattress and support. A robotic system removes and replaces a cushion for filling the opening and for replacing the toilet in alignment with the opening. An integral bidet, a source of clean water, a nozzle, a variable speed pump and mechanism for connecting a source of water to the bidet are included. A second opening in a lower portion of the toilet is connected to a waste storage tank. An odor eliminator is provided and a remote control allows a patient to control the unit.

Abstract: A fluid-control medical mattress includes a platform and multiple supports mounted on the platform. Each support is a bladder for selectively receiving fluid to support a patient. A skirt is mounted to a periphery of the platform and surrounds the platform for retaining water with the platform for a nurse to conveniently clean the body of the patient who lies on the platform. The multiple supports respectively correspond to the head, neck, shoulder, pelvis and knee for supporting the patient who lies on the platform when the multiple supports are full of fluid.

Abstract: A rectangular structure on wheels has a first and second slab. The first slab supports the patient's washing apparatus including heated water tank, an air blower and waste water tank. The second or top slab spaced apart above the first slab has an attached hinged back rest and is covered with a message pad and a disposable washing liner. The top slab is configured to have waste water flow into a drain which leads to the waste water tank.

Abstract: A medical sanitary multifunctional system bed is provided for nursing, having necessary functions that can be added optionally according to clinical conditions of users. The optional addition of functions allows the medical sanitary multifunctional system bed to perform necessary functions, on a case-by-case basis, thereby minimizing the economic burden imposed on patients. Ordinarily, the bed includes a lower capsule, supported by a metallic support frame, an upper capsule mounted on the lower capsule, a movable and rotatable portion, which is supported by the metallic support frame, and a plurality of removable cushions placed on the movable portion. On a optional basis, the bed may include a stool, a bathtub, a shower, and additional washers.

Abstract: This invention relates to a baby cleaning and changing pad. The key components of the product are a soft stationary pad and a soft movable pad. The stationary pad is mounted on a flat; the movable pad can slide on the flat. On both sides of the stationary pad, there are two safety belt holders. On the top of the movable pad, there are two diaper holders. A space appears between the two pads when the movable pad moves away from the stationary pad. When changing baby's diaper, a person mounts a clean diaper on the movable pad, places the baby on the changing pad, buckles up the safety belt, releases the dirty diapers, moves the movable pad away from stationary pad, and throws away the dirty that moves away from baby along with the movable pad. The space between the movable pad and the stationary pad makes baby cleaning much easier. After cleaning, the person pushes the movable pad along with the clean diaper back to the stationary pad.

Abstract: A care bed comprises a bed main body provided with an opening for elevating a bedpan, a bedpan assembled downward of the bed main body and supported in a freely elevating manner with respect to the bed main body, a bedpan elevating device that is moved between a lifted position in which the bedpan is lifted through the opening of the bed main body to above the bed surface and a descended position in which it is stored under the bed main body, and an excrement collecting device for sucking and collecting excrements from the bedpan.

Abstract: Disclosed is a portable bed-bath and shower device. The device provides an oblong, inflatable bath tub unit 12 used to assist in the bathing of bed ridden patients. The bath tub or housing 12 of the device is a rubber material consisting of an electric air compressor 20, water valve 22, dirty water discharge pump 24 and hose 26, shower head 28, hook and loop straps 18, a swivel head hanger 46, storage pockets 30 for soap and wash cloths and tote cart 70. A patient can be easily placed upon the bath unit prior to the inflation thereof. The bath unit is then inflated by the electric compressor 20 and a hose 44 is connected to the water valve of the unit and at the other distal end, to a sink. Hook and loop fasteners 18 are supplied to secure the patient 14 within the bath device and to lift the limbs of a patient for easy cleaning of the limbs. A water valve 22 is also provided consisting of a control valve 38 and separate drain valve 40.

Abstract: A cushion bed with a flushing device. The bed includes a containing cushion that is adhered to the upper part of the air cushion and shaped as a tilted groove, being removable, and including a sensor. When discharge from a patient falls on the surface of the containing cushion, a sensor senses this and a water pump is activated, so that water can be spurted through both the water-spurting head to flush the discharge on the surface of the containing cushion, and the other water-spurting head installed on top of the containing cushion cleanses the excretory organs of the patient. The inventive device provides the patients in the persistent vegetative state with the convenience of urinating and defecating in bed, and with the functions of keeping the excretory organs of the patient clean and not prone to bacteria growth or infection, and sanitizes the bed cushion.

Abstract: An improvement to gurneys for cleaning patients confined to bed which generally is comprised of a structure with legs having caster wheels, which includes, generally, a framework for affixing a table to support the patient with a washing basin comprised of a piece of flexible and collapsible laminar material, attached to the frame, which follows the perimeter of the support table and is connected to form walls that delimit a space for washing. The improvement is comprised of a frame that includes elongations at the ends of its longitudinal sides, which project vertically above the table with rows of notches to affix and hold the upper edge of the laminar piece and to delimit the washing space. These elongations may be comprised of extensions of the ends of the longitudinal sides of the frame in a U shape, formed with vertical inclined sections joined below the frame, of which one, the furthest from the frame, projects above the table to incorporate the row of affixing notches for the laminar material piece.

Abstract: A moveable pedicure table for combination with a reclining facial bed as provided having a table frame with side portions and a central open portion. Legs extend downward from the frame and rollers are attached to the legs for movement along a horizontal ground or floor surface. Projections extend inward into the central open area from the sides of the table frame. The projections are constructed for supporting a pedicure basin at a predetermined height. A connector mechanism is attached to the table frame for detachable engagement with a facial bed.

Abstract: A bathing apparatus to be used on a mattress and being collapsible for volumetric efficient storage and transportation. An impermeable, pliable and semi-flexible sheet has a peripheral edge portion which includes a fold as a peripheral end or rim. The edge portion is kept at a position above the mattress so that the sheet may contain liquids. To keep the peripheral edge portion at this position several arm support assemblies are mounted perpendicular to the mattress around its perimeter. The distal ends of the arm members in the arm support assemblies coact with cooperatively exposed areas of the peripheral fold. A flexible cord is passed through the fold and kept sufficiently tensed to keep the peripheral edge portion at a substantially perpendicular relationship with respect to the plane of the mattress.

Abstract: A bed for patient care having a waste disposal system. The bed includes a back, seat and two leg sections for supporting the patient. These sections of the bed may be raised and lowered and tilted. The leg sections may be moved independently for use with patients having one leg immobilized. The seat section includes two panels which part to permit a waste canister to be raised to interface with the buttocks of the patient. An audible signal alerts the patient prior to this action. The waste canister provides a directable bidet wash, and an air drying feature. Gelling material within the canister swells during the bidet function to cover and seal the waste. The entire canister may be sealed and disposed of.

Abstract: A device for washing a user sitting in or reclining on a stretcher including an open-bottomed, double-walled housing defining a washing chamber therein and having a top wall opposite the open bottom, opposing side walls, a front wall and a rear opening opposite the front wall. A door is provided for opening and closing the rear opening and a plurality of nozzles are secured to an interior wall of the housing member for injecting warm water toward the user sitting in or reclining on the stretcher positioned in said washing chamber. The head of the user is located outside the washing chamber.

The bath tub (20, 20A, 20C) has a front side (76) which overlaps a mattress (12, 12A, 12C) on the bed (10, 10A, 10C) and is supported thereby. The tub (20, 20A, 20C) bridges the bed (10, 10A, 10C) and the supporting frame. The bed (10B) has a bed frame (14B) which is movable vertically for raising and lowering the bath tub (20) which is partially supported on the mattress (12B).

Abstract: An apparatus and method for managing waste from patient care, maintenance, and/or treatment includes an inflatable bladder member disposed to support at least a first portion of the body of the patient. A flexible basin member is fitted over the bladder and receives waste materials, and a filter sheet is disposed atop the basin member. The basin member is connected to a liquid/gas separator and a vacuum blower. A liquid waste pump is connected to the separator to transfer liquid waste to a holding jug. A vacuum wand provides both suction and rinsing liquid via an on-demand pumping supply configuration that enables the rinsing liquid supplied from a rinse jug to be heated. Liquid levels in the rinse liquid jug, the holding jug, and the separator's holding reservoir are sensed by capacitive level sensing devices which supply signals to a microprocessor which controls various functions of the apparatus. Special inflatable sacks are provided to assist turning the patient to facilitate cleansing of the patient.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for transferring a patient in a prostrate position sidewise between a bath tub (20, 20A, 20C) and bed (10, 10A, 10C) without lifting of patient (P). The method includes the steps of sliding a patient P over a front side (76) into the bottom (70) of the tub for bathing the patient, and returning the patient after bathing over the front side to the bed (20). The front side (76) of the tub (20, 20A, 20C) overlaps the mattress (12, 12A, 12C) and is supported thereon. The bed frame (14, 14B) and mattress (12, 12B) are movable vertically for raising and lowering the tub (20, 20A, 20C). The patient is moved into and out of the tub (20, 20A, 20C) when the tub (20, 20A, 20C) is in a lowered position, and is bathed with the tub in the raised position.

Abstract: A bed (10) for patients requiring bed treatment having a cut out (19) in the base (18) beneath which is a toilet pan (22, 23, 25) preferably having flowing water supply (26) and drain (27) connections. A mattress (35) having one quarter (36) removed is positioned on the base (18) with the open quadrant (36) over the pan (22). A movable mattress segment (40) is positioned on the base (18) in the open quadrant (36) of the mattress (35) and is vertically adjustable to align with the mattress top and laterally movable to expose the pan (22) and allow patients to relieve themselves without having to be moved to insert conventional bed pans. The toilet pan (22) is cleaned using the water supply which is controlled by movement of the movable segment (40). An alternative embodiment has an attachable hot and cold water supply (58) with a wash basin (53) to allow patients to wash themselves.

Abstract: A multipurpose sickbed which includes an excretion collector mounted around an opening on an intermediate bed plate thereof for collecting waste excreted from the body of the patient as the patient is turned to a sitting position by a hydraulic cylinder, a water supply system controlled to spray warm water for cleaning the pubes and anus of the patient and cold water for cleaning the excretion collector after the act of excreting, an air dryer controlled to dry the pubes and anus of the patient after the cleaning process, massagers mounted on a front bed plate of the bed body and controlled to massage the patient, a cover board controlled by a hydraulic cylinder and a linkage and a lifting mechanism to close up the opening on the intermediate bed plate after the act of excreting.

Abstract: A hospital bed has a frame. A horizontal plate is pivotally mounted on a vertical axis to swing from an inoperative position underlying the frame to an operative position extending from the head end of the bed. A pillow can be placed on the extender so that the patient can be shifted toward the head end of the bed with the patient's head comfortably supported on the pillow which is in turn supported on the extender. A basin is adapted to be used in conjunction with the extender and is a shell having a head receiving cavity with a pedestal projecting upwardly from within the cavity for resting the patient's head thereatop while providing clearance completely around the head so that a care provider can shampoo the patient's head.

Abstract: An invalid patient lifting and turning apparatus which includes an open framework for being positioned above a bed, an elevator supported by the open framework and a patient support straps for being positioned on a mattress of the bed underneath the patient and remaining underneath the patient at all times. The straps are removable and replaceable for extending laterally from side-to-side along the length of the patient for supporting the patient's head, trunk and legs. Connecting straps are provided for connecting the patient support straps and the elevator thereby permitting the patient support straps to lift the patient above the mattress surface for cleaning and bed-linen changing. A reservoir is provided for being positioned on the mattress under the patient while the patient is suspended above the mattress so that the patient can be bathed or showered in the bed.

Abstract: A recreational floatational device is provided. A horizontally disposed support base has at least one floatation cell. At least one side wall of a shade member extends upwardly from the support base. The shade member further includes a horizontally disposed covering member supported by the at least one side wall. The support base and the shade member have at least one common inflatable air cell, such that full inflation of the air cell forces the side wall and the covering member to assume semirigid positions relative to the base for shading the base. The base has a support surface and perimeter walls extending above the support surface so that the base may retain water on the support surface between the perimeter walls. A water nozzle is further included and held by the covering member in a downwardly facing attitude. A flexible hose is positioned within the at least one air cell, and a hose coupling is positioned on the base.

Abstract: A bed apparatus (1) combines a bed body (3) and a collapsible bathtub (103). The bathtub (103) is vertically collapsible to be storable in a spaced under a bottom plate (106) of the bed body (3). The collapsible tub is movable by a guide member (104) between a position under the bottom plate (106) and a position on a side of the bottom plate (106). In an unused state, the bathtub (103) is stored in the space under the bed body in order to facilitate an effective use of a relatively narrow room.

Abstract: A lounge chair utilizes a first "U" shaped frame pivotally mounting a second "U" shaped frame, with the first "U" shaped frame including a plurality of legs for positioning the first "U" shaped frame relative to an underlying surface, with each frame including a plurality of sprinkling water ports direction therethrough, wherein the second frame includes a hose connection to permit fluid communication to a fluid conduit utilizing a valve member interposed therebetween to control fluid flow. A modification of the invention includes directional conduits mounted to each "U" shaped frame to permit directional orientation of the port flow as required. Solar reflective slats are directed within the first and second "U" shaped frame.
