Abstract: A pillow and play mat assembly comprising an infant support pillow with an attached activity or play mat. The pillow includes a bolster surrounding a recessed central well. The mat includes a padded panel with a flexible bumper. The bumper is repositionable so that it can extend from the panel upwardly or downwardly. In the fully deployed or play mode, the play mat extends sidewardly from the support pillow and the bumper extends upwardly to enclose the play area defined by the mat. In the stowed or carrying mode, the play mat is folded under the support pillow and the bumper is inverted to at least partially enclose the side of the pillow. In an intermediate position, the play mat is folded under the pillow and the bumper extends downwardly to slightly elevate the pillow.

Abstract: An aerated bumper and liner system for a baby crib provides increased airflow into and out of the baby crib while creating a soft pad to guard the baby against injury. The bumper and liner system includes pads with apertures that allow for added air circulation. Each pad may further include ties for attaching the pad to the bars of the crib. Support stays are included in the liner pads to help ensure that the liner pad do not sag once put in place in the crib.

Abstract: A crib liner is provided for a crib that includes a plurality of sides and four corner posts. The liner includes a body that has a pair of opposing first panel sections for placement along two sides and a pair of opposing second panel sections for placement along the other two sides. Each panel section is defined by a top edge and an opposite bottom edge, wherein a length of the top edge is different than a length of the bottom edge for each of the panel sections. The body is configured for placement inside of the crib along inner surface of the sides of the crib. The liner is attached to the inside of the crib by a plurality of fasteners, each fastener being configured to attach around one corner post for securely attaching the liner body to the crib.

Abstract: A crib bumper is provided for a crib that includes a plurality of spaced support elements and four corner posts. The bumper includes at least one panel that is configured to at least seat against the inner surfaces of the spaced support elements and a corner post attachment member that is coupled to the panel. The corner post attachment member defines a pocket that receives one corner post and permits the corner post attachment member to surround and be securely attached to the one corner post. The corner post attachment member has free edges that are attached to one another by means of a first fastener and includes a means for adjusting and changing at least one dimension of the corner post attachment member to provide a secure attachment of the corner post attachment member to the corner post.

Abstract: The breathable bedding described here serves to protect an infant from suffocating due to close contact with bedding. The breathable bedding includes one or more breathable bedding elements, which are made of a material that allows air to pass through it freely, is flexible, yet has sufficient stiffness to hold a three-dimensional shape. The three-dimensional shape ensures a cushioning effect. The breathable bedding elements are covered with a breathable fabric, such as a light woven or open-weave fabric, to form a breathable bedding panel that may serve as a crib bumper or mattress.

Abstract: A crib rail bumper is formed with a cushioning pad, a fabric cover dimensioned to encompass the pad, and reversible fastening means on opposite sides of the cover for securing the cover and pad to the crib rail. The reversible fastening means is preferably a reversible zipper. The crib rail bumper is compressible along the length dimension so as to encompass crib rails of varying lengths. The cushioning pad has a major length dimension, a minor width dimension, and a thickness dimension, the dimensions being selected for encompassing a crib rail. The reversible fastener allows multiple bumpers to be attached together to encompass wide rails or a plurality of rails.

Abstract: A protective crib liner for a child includes a full protective liner configured to surround an inner length and height of the crib and to wrap-around a top perimeter portion of the crib. Up to eight fasteners may be affixed to the liner to secure it to the crib. Tethers attach child development items to the liner and extend through the liner to tie around a portion of the crib. The items are attached at various heights to stimulate the child's mind, motor functions and senses. A pocket hanger attaches to the top of the liner and hangs on a top perimeter of the crib to secure the pocket hanger and the liner to the crib. A method facilitating the child's development includes attaching the development items inside the liner at various heights the child may reach thereby encouraging the child to move up, down and across in the crib.

A supporting spine (71) is coupled between the base (40) and each of the bumper elements (50) maintaining the bumper elements (50) upright relative to the base (40).

Abstract: A bumper system having a fitted crib sheet with a secondary layer which is attached to a top surface of the fitted crib sheet using an attachment means which secures a perimeter of the secondary layer to the fitted crib sheet, a bumper component having a first, second, third and fourth side panel, wherein the bumper component is attached to the top surface of the fitted crib sheet so that when the fitted crib sheet engages a crib mattress, the bumper component extends upwardly with respect to the top surface of the fitted crib sheet, in which a bottom portion of the bumper is constructed from a material having mesh and a top portion of the bumper is constructed from a padded material, and an adjustable strap on the bumper component which has a latch where the adjustable strap is adapted to secure the bumper component to a slat of a crib.

Abstract: An individual crib rail bumper providing protective padding in and around a child's crib to increase bodily protection and to provide additional comfort, support, and aesthetic design. An individual crib rail bumper is a long, cushioned, 2-sided, rectangular shaped soft protective material that securely wraps 360 degrees around each individual crib rail by use of strategically placed fasteners. A set of individual crib bumpers offers different fabric choices on each side and is designed to accommodate any size crib rail. They can easily be applied and are simple to remove for washing. The individual vertical crib bumpers also provide critical safety features that resolve long outstanding safety hazards of the standard and widely used conventional crib bumper.

Abstract: A mesh crib bumper enclosure having four connected vertical mesh fabric panel sections installed in a crib by suspending it from top and bottom corners and securing it to four corner posts. The enclosure panels are stretched tightly between the corner posts using a locking fastener. The mesh fabric panels allow air to circulate through the crib to prevent exhaled carbon dioxide from building up. The enclosure corners receive vertical support members for vertical structural integrity while top and bottom edges can receive horizontal support members for horizontal structural integrity. The enclosure bottom corners use tie string fasteners to secure the enclosure to bottom crib rails to keep the bottom edges in contact the mattress. Other embodiments use a mesh panel base attached to the enclosure bottom and/or a mesh panel sealable top for sealing off the top to prevent insects and animals from entering the mesh crib bumper enclosure.

Abstract: A changing pad includes a resilient support that has a generally flat base with a bottom surface. A peripheral wall extends upwardly of the base to form a region wherein an infant may be placed. A strap assembly includes a first and second strap portions, each of which having one end secured to the resilient support proximately to the first and second bottom side edges, respectively. Cooperative fastening elements releasably connect to other ends of the two strap portions. The locations of the connections of the strap portions to the bottom edges may be set back an inset distance to allow use with fitted coverings.

Abstract: A baby crib bumper pad formed from abutting tightly padded segments. Each segment provided with pairs of cooperating vertical flaps that extend around balusters of the baby crib and are tied together on the outside of the crib via short tie fasteners provided on the vertical flaps to secure the segments to the crib. A lower border on each segment is a continuously repeating series of u-shaped crescents that touch each other so that longer portions of the crescents rest on and support the segments above the crib mattress and shorter portions of the crescents form lower openings with the crib mattress. The lower openings permit air to flow between the inside and outside of the crib, thereby preventing the baby from being strangled or suffocated by the pad and helping to prevent SIDS.

Abstract: A playpen bumper includes an elongated strip of generally soft material having a first surface, a second surface, and ties for releasably fastening the strip of material to a playpen. The strip of material has padding secured between the first and second surfaces. The first surface includes various ways for releasably securing a plurality of toys thereto such as a band or a pocket. The fastening means is attached to the second surface of the strip of material and is used to releasably fasten the bumper to the playpen. The first surface faces the interior or confined space of the playpen formed by a plurality of side walls and a bottom wall. The second surface faces outwardly from the confined space.

The panels are formed, at least in part, of a mesh-type material (e.g., an integrated padded mesh material) that includes openings too small to permit an infant to insert a finger or toe therethrough. Each of the flaps is permanently secured along one side of the flap to its associated segment that is located on the outside of the baby crib and an opposite open side of each of the flaps is provided with a fastener whereby the open side of the flap secures to the segment, thereby forming a padded sleeve that extends around a baluster of the baby crib.

Abstract: A crib bumper pad comprises an upper and lower barrier portion conjoined centrally by a zipper. The lower barrier portion is a plurality of non-removable, rectangular-shaped reinforcement plates encased within cloth and having a zipper on its top edge. The upper barrier portion is comprised of padding. Within the padding is a cloth-lined cavity with a sealable aperture whereby a removable reinforcement plate can also be inserted therein to provide for a sturdy barrier between a child and the crib's bars. The upper barrier portion attaches to the crib by a plurality of double straps. Additionally, the upper barrier portion connects to the lower barrier portion and crib by means of a zipper and a plurality of single securment straps. Also provided on the upper barrier portion is a securable releasable member whereby a pacifier may be placed thereon and attached thereto to prevent loss or misplacement of the pacifier.

Abstract: Rebreathing carbon dioxide and overheating of the infant are contributing causes of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and asphyxiation. The characteristics of conventional crib mattresses, bedding and bumper pads contribute to rebreathing of carbon dioxide and overheating of the infant and may be contributing environmental causes of SIDS, asphyxiation, apnea syndromes and hypoventilation. The present invention consists of improved sleeping pads, beddings and bumper pads which reduce rebreathing of carbon dioxide and overheating and provide increased crib ventilation to stimulate breathing.

The ventilated bumper includes an upper bumper section disposed above the upper surface of the mattress and a lower bumper section disposed at least partly in the spacing between the interior boundary of the crib and the periphery of the mattress. The upper bumper section has at least one padded portion which includes flexible padding and at least one ventilated portion which includes a plurality of openings for ventilating between the interior of the crib and the exterior of the crib.

Abstract: An infant container which may be in the form of a crib mattress and crib bumper assembly having means defining one or more gas flow channels which permit any concentration of heavy gases to drain by gravity from the upper surface of the crib mattress and be replaced by the environmental air of the room in which the crib is located. The gas flow channels may be defined by the crib mattress, the crib bumper or the structure of the infant container or may be defined by a structural element that elevates a conventional crib bumper above the upper surface of a conventional crib mattress and which defines at least one and preferably a multiplicity of gas drain channels. The heavy gases may be dissipated from the infant container by gravity induced gas flow.

Abstract: A safety bumper pad includes a bumper pad, a mattress retaining sheet, and a plurality of positive locking straps. A bumper cover is sewn around a bumper cushion to form the bumper pad. The mattress retaining sheet is sewn on the bottom of the bumper pad such that a mattress may be inserted therein. The mattress retaining sheet is deep enough to allow the entire bumper pad to protrude above the mattress. A plurality of positive locking straps are attached to substantially the top of the bumper pad. The positive locking straps include a strap portion, a female locking member, and a male locking portion. The female locking member is attached to one end of the strap portion. The male locking member contains a loop section through which the other end of the strap portion is inserted. The male and female locking members are pulled around at least one crib rail and then the male locking member is inserted into the female locking member.

Abstract: A crib bumper assembly is provided. The crib bumper assembly includes a bottom panel to be positioned between the spring and mattress of a crib. The crib bumper assembly further includes head, foot and side panels articulated to and extending upwardly from the bottom panel. Portions of these panels adjacent the bottom panel will lie in abutting face-to-face engagement with the head, foot and side surfaces of the mattress. The head, foot and side panels extend upwardly from the top surface of the mattress and are formed to include padding. Ties or other such attachments are secured to head, foot and side panels for attachment to spindles or other such structures on the crib.

Abstract: A baby crib bumper for use in a baby's crib such that the bumper pad may remain in place while sheets are changed. A plurality of fasteners and a partial sheet are attached to the bumper pad. The fasteners fasten to the rails of the crib which assists in securing the bumper pads. The partial sheet covers the periphery of the mattress which, also, assists in securing the bumper pad.

Abstract: A railing guard is provided for alleviating previous deficiencies with crib protectants. The crib railing guard disclosed protects infants from injury and discomfort resulting from impact against and contact with side railing on baby cribs. Furthermore, the crib railing guard provides a self-supportive, comfortable enclosure for care of infants on surfaces with or without side railing. The crib railing guard is composed of a base, a cushiony wall and fasteners. The base is sized and shaped to correspond to an infant mattress. The base, when used in conjunction with an infant bed, is placed on top of the mattress support structure and beneath the mattress. The cushiony wall is connected to the perimeter of the base and projects upward. The lower portion of the cushiony wall is designed to compress when a mattress is placed on top of the base in order to fit the crib railing guard between the crib railing and the mattress.

Abstract: A protective bumper pad for an infant crib. The bumper pad includes an elongated flexible generally flat member having a length generally equal to the interior perimeter of the crib just above the crib mattress and formed of substantially coextensive padded and unpadded sections separated by a longitudinally extending flexible fold line. The unpadded section includes an elastic edge which defines a longitudinal edge of the bumper pad, the elastic edge, when relaxed, being substantially shorter than the length of the padded section. The ends of the bumper pad are releasably connectable together when the device is positioned against the inside perimeter of the crib and flexible spaced apart ties connected on the outwardly facing surface of the padded section connectable to upright slats of the sides of the crib retain the upright positioning of the padded section. The unpadded section is positioned beneath the crib mattress, positioning being facilitated by the elastic edge.

Abstract: A crib pad comprising a loop of polyurethane foam with a slit down the longitudinal extent which forms a cushion. A covering, preferably of heat welded vinyl, which forms an enclosure containing the foam cushion. Vertical pad members are secured by a connecting piece to a pad member with a longitudinal extend normal to that of the vertical members. Hook and loop type fasteners along the lateral edges of the pad members form the attachment means. A storage pocket is formed on the outer surface of the pad members by a planar piece of material secured at its edges to the covering.
