Abstract: Systems and Methods for manufacturing ZPGM catalysts systems that may allow the prevention of formation or the conversion of corrosion causing compounds, such as hexavalent chromium compounds, within ZPGM catalyst systems are disclosed. ZPGM catalysts systems, may include metallic substrate, which may include alloys of iron and chromium, a washcoat and an overcoat. Disclosed manufacturing processes may include a thermal decomposition of hexavalent chromium compounds which may allow the decomposition of such compounds into trivalent chromium compounds, and may also produce metallic catalyst, such as silver.
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of emission control equipment for boilers, heaters, kilns, or other flue gas-, or combustion gas-, generating devices (e.g., those located at power plants, processing plants, etc.) and, in particular to a new and useful method and apparatus for preventing the poisoning and/or contamination of an SCR catalyst. In another embodiment, the method and apparatus of the present invention is designed to protect an SCR catalyst, while simultaneously providing emission control.

Abstract: A method of producing a primary amine by the hydrogenation of a nitrile in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. The hydrogenation catalyst contains at least one metal selected from the group consisting of nickel, cobalt and iron. Before use in the hydrogenation of nitrile, the hydrogenation catalyst is pretreated with at least one treating agent selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbons, alcohols, ethers, esters and carbon monoxide at 150 to 500° C.
Abstract: Shortening systems are prepared which include hydrogenated edible oils that are hydrogenated in a manner to minimize the formation of trans-stereoisomers. A conditioned catalyst is used which disfavors trans-stereoisomer formation without significantly negatively impacting the length of time required to form solids for a useful shortening base stock through hydrogenation. Preferred conditioning agents are organic acid phosphates and phosphoric acid. In a preferred embodiment, a confectionary shortening is provided which incorporates a polyglycerol ester emulsifier.
Abstract: A technique for preparing a flat sheet, high capacity CO.sub.2 sorbent and sorbent assembly is disclosed. The sorbent, which is in the form of a sheet, can be a metal oxide/alkali metal carbonate regenerable sorbent, while the sorbent assembly is comprised of the sheet sorbents located between constraining means and gas flow passages.
Abstract: The present invention relates to aluminosilicates and silica gels having a low content of transition elements, to a process for their manufacture and to their use as a catalysts or catalyst supports. Said aluminosilicates or silica gels are prepared by treating them with a solution of complexing agents at a temperature of from 70.degree. to 150.degree. C. The manufacture of low-molecular-weight olefins from methanol is one possible application field of said aluminosilicates, used as a catalyst.
