  • Patent number: 9096475
Abstract: A garbage to fertilizer conversion system for converting garbage to fertilizer. The garbage to fertilizer conversion system generally includes a processing machine that separates the garbage into compostable and non-compostable materials. A magnetic separator removes ferromagnetic materials from the compostable material. An auger assembly moves and discharges the compostable material to form a pile. A heater is located under the pile to heat the pile and form a composted material. A three stage screen separates the composted material into three sizes. A dryer receives the composted material and discharges a dried composted material. A trommel screen separates the dried composted material into a small sized material useable as fertilizer and a medium sized material useable as potting soil.

  • Patent number: 8491692
Abstract: A water-dispersible particle is provided that includes organic origin potash in an amount ranging from 5% to 99.9% by weight of the total dry weight of the particle. A binder component is present in an amount from 1% to 95% by weight. The organic origin potash and the binder component on that contact with water causes particle dispersion into more than 100 pieces. A process for making a water-dispersible particle includes mechanical aggregation of the potash into a pellet. A binder component is present in the particle in an amount ranging from 1% to 95% by weight. The potash and the binder component are present in a form such that contact with water causes particle dispersion into more than 100 pieces. The pellet is then dried and ready to be applied.

  • Publication number: 20130123103
Abstract: A particle is provided that includes 5 wt % to 90 wt % of agricultural biomass, combustion residues, biosolids, or a combination thereof. A binder intermixed with the agricultural biomass, combustion residues, biosolids, or a combination thereof retains the mixture in the form of a particle. The resultant particle creates a use for existing waste streams while also improving soil quality. A process of stabilizing agricultural biomass, combustion residues, biosolids, or a combination thereof particles is also provided that includes combining agricultural biomass, combustion residues, biosolids, or a combination thereof with mineral and/or synthetic chemical fragments having a bulk density of greater than about 40 pounds per cubic foot and a sizing of about 100% passing through a 30 mesh screen and about 50% or more passing through a 200 mesh screen. By adding binder, a particle is formed that is deodorized and/or stabilized.

  • Publication number: 20120270735
Abstract: According to the present invention, a process is designed for preparation of PGPR bioformulation having superior viability by using Pseudomonas fluorescens VP5 isolated from tea rhizosphere. The invention is primarily designed to develop a PGPR formulation process for biocontrol of red root rot disease. This strain is useful as plant growth promoting rhizobacterium (PGPR) and biocontrol agent which can be formulated to produce antibiotic compounds that is active against the phytopathogen Poria hypolateritia. The process involves culturing of Pseudomonas fluorescens in a growth medium amended with colloidal chitin. The resulting mixture is then mixed with talc based carrier. The carrier with immobilized bioagent along with combination of vermicompost and farmyard manure is selected as efficient bioformulation for controlling root pathogen.

  • Patent number: 8246906
Abstract: A method for antimicrobial treatment (e.g. antimicrobial treatment of food packaging and equipment) comprising applying to microbes a composition containing a diluting solvent (e.g., water), an antimicrobially-active solvent having a density different from the density of the diluting solvent, and an optional cosolvent, surfactant, or additional antimicrobial agent, wherein the amount of antimicrobially-active solvent or additional antimicrobial agent is sufficiently high and the amount of cosolvent or surfactant is sufficiently low so that the composition will provide greater than a 1-log order reduction in the population of bacteria or spores of Bacillus cereus within 10 seconds at 60° C. Preferred methods of the invention employ compositions containing an additional antimicrobial agent such as peroxyacetic acid. Compositions for use in the method can be prepared as concentrates, and used full strength or in diluted form.

  • Publication number: 20080293571
Abstract: An insecticide organic fertilizer composition eradicates insects such as imported fire ants (IFA). The insecticide organic fertilizer composition comprises an aqueous homogenized manure extract having an active ingredient, a surfactant, a solvent, and a fatty acid. Active ingredients include botanical insecticides which are subject to degradation after a preselected period of time upon delivery to a soil area. The botanical insecticide is selected from the group consisting of rotenone, pyrethrum, sabadilla (varatrine), neem (azadirachtin), ryania (ryanodine), and mixtures thereof, with rotenone being the preferable botanical insecticide selected. Advantageously, the combination of these components and component amounts renders the botanical insecticide's active ingredients, including rotenone, stable in the aqueous organic manure extract for a predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 6841515
Abstract: This invention relates to the production and use of encapsulated and/or concentrically-constructed fertilizer or bioremediation granules such as, for example, granules of 0.5 mm to 10 mm in diameter constructed so that there are at least two components to the granule including a core with a surrounding capsule or a core with one or more concentric layers that are distinguishable from the core with respect to nutrient content, density, hardness, solubility, composition, microbial content and permeability, as in permeability to odors or the permeability of nutrients that might volatize to the atmosphere or leach into the soil. The basic idea was to create a method for manufacturing and using fertilizer granules, which incorporate multiple concentric layers or a core plus an encapsulating outer layer.

  • Patent number: 6637152
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for producing liquid fertilizer from manure. The apparatus includes at least one tank filled with water, a cage having a perforated pipe arranged closed to a bottom floor of the cage and a pump connected to the pipe for delivery of pressured air through the perforations of the pipe. In use, the cage is loaded with fresh manure and then submerged in the tank of water. The pressured air agitates and aerates the manure and thereby causing aerobic decomposition of the manure. Nutrients in the manure are thereby extracted from the manure and mixed with the water to form a liquid fertilizer. A fertigation arrangement can be arranged to deliver the liquid fertilizer from the tank directly to plants.
