Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling weeds in a sugar cane field, including applying to a field before or after planting stem cuttings of sugar cane having only one node, at least one herbicide selected from the group consisting of ametryn, atrazine, simazine, alachlor, metolachlor, S-metolachlor, asulam, metribuzin, trifluralin, pendimethalin, tebuthiuron, diuron, hexazinone, amicarbazone, imazapic, trifloxysulfuron-sodium, iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium, halosulfuron-methyl, ethoxysulfuron, carfentrazone-ethyl, isoxaflutole, bicyclopyrone, mesotrione, picloram and salts thereof and esters thereof, 2,4-D and salts and esters thereof, dicamba and salts and esters thereof, clomazone, MSMA, paraquat, diquat, glufosinate, glufosinate-ammonium, glufosinate-P and salts thereof, and glyphosate and salts thereof. The present invention provides an excellent effect of controlling weeds without causing phytotoxicity problematic to sugar cane in a sugar cane field.
