Abstract: A method for creating an artifact for use with an optical three-dimensional measuring system includes steps of: (a) providing an artifact that comprises an inspection surface, which artifact is configured to be scanned by a non-contact sensor included in the optical three-dimensional measuring system, which artifact comprises at least one of a substantially spherical body and a turbine engine component, and which inspection surface comprises a surface of one of the substantially spherical body and the turbine engine component; (b) heating the artifact to a predetermined temperature; and (c) coating the inspection surface of the heated artifact with an approximately uniform coating of dry film lubricant.

Abstract: A silicone grease composition is provided comprising (A) 2-40% by weight of an organopolysiloxane having a kinematic viscosity of 50-500,000 mm2/s at 25° C., and (B) 60-98% by weight of at least one heat conductive filler selected from among metal powders, metal oxide powders and ceramic powders having a thermal conductivity of at least 10 W/m° C. and an average particle size of 0.1-15.0 ?m. Coarse particles are removed such that a 500-mesh oversize fraction is not more than 50 ppm and a 325-mesh oversize fraction is substantially zero.

The compositions used to apply the coatings may also include relatively minor amounts of xylene, ammonium benzoate, a wetting agent, and/or a porosity-inducing agent—although none of those additives remains in the cured coating. Multi-layer dry film lubricant coatings are also disclosed, with the multi-layer coating having a basecoat layer as described above, and a topcoat layer made of a layer-lattice solid such as graphite or molybdenum disulfide, and a silicone resin, aluminum phosphate or an alkali metal silicate binder.
