  • Patent number: 10123534
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a composition and method for attracting bed bugs to a trap or to a location where an insecticide or pesticide is present, or to a trap or a location where a bed bug infestation can be detected. The present disclosure provides for a composition for attracting bed bugs that includes one or more of methyl diethanolamine (MDEA), monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), triethanolamine (TEA), and dimethyl trisulfide (DMTS); a carrier; and optionally one or more amides selected from oleamide, octanamide, nonanamide, and laurylamide; urea, biuret, or triuret; and one or more aliphatic fatty acids. The present disclosure further provides for a method for treating an article by applying the composition to the article, where the article comprises a device for trapping or detecting bed bugs or a device for treating a bed bug infestation.

  • Patent number: 8822712
Abstract: Chemically-modified triglycerides are prepared by reacting epoxidized triglyceride oils with phosphorus-based acid hydroxide or esters. The phosphorus-containing triglyceride derivatives are of the formula: wherein R1?, R2? and R3? are independently selected from C3 to C29 aliphatic fatty acid residues, at least one of which comprising one or both of the derivatized methylene groups of the formula: wherein m is 0, 1 or 2, n is 0 or 1, q is 1, 2 or 3, and R and R? are independently selected from the group consisting of H, straight, branched or cyclic hydrocarbons and substituted hydrocarbons, and aryl groups. The phosphorus-containing triglyceride derivatives so produced have utility as antiwear/antifriction additives for industrial oils and automotive applications.

  • Patent number: 8536103
Abstract: A liquid extreme pressure agent for use in lubricating compositions where the lubricating compositions comprise an oil of lubricating viscosity and the reaction product of: (a) a thiazole; (b) a composition comprising a carboxylic acid, a phosphorus containing acid or salt, or combinations thereof; and (c) an amine containing one or more branched hydrocarbyl groups. The invention also provides an additive composition comprising the reaction product described above and a process for making lubricating compositions, including greases, from the reaction product.

  • Patent number: 7294607
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lubricant composition exhibiting enhanced load-carrying capacity and oxidative/corrosion stability. The lubricant composition of the present invention comprises a major portion of an aliphatic ester base oil having lubrication properties and formed by the reaction of pentaerythritol and an organic carboxylic acid. The lubricant composition further comprises 3-(di-isobutoxy-thiophosphonylsulfanyl)-2-methyl-propionic acid (DITMPA) as an additive comprising from about 0.01 to about 0.40 weight percent of the fully formulated lubricating oil composition as well as yellow metal passivator comprising from about 0.01 to about 0.40 weight percent of the fully formulated lubricating oil composition. The enhanced load-carrying capacity and oxidative/corrosion stability of lubricant compositions containing DITMPA and yellow metal passivator is achieved without deleteriously affecting other salient properties of the lubricant.

  • Patent number: 5573696
Abstract: Additives are produced by (i) reacting an O,O-dihydrocarbyl phosphorodithioic acid with a monoepoxide or mixture of monoepoxides having in the range of 20 to about 30 carbon atoms in the molecule or a vegetable oil epoxide such as epoxidized soybean oil or methyl epoxy soyate, (ii) reacting the product with phosphorus pentoxide to produce an acid phosphate intermediate, and (iii) neutralizing the intermediate with at least one amine. At least 50 mole %, and preferably all, of the hydrocarbyl groups of the O,O-dihydrocarbyl phosphorodithioic acid are secondary acyclic hydrocarbyl groups free of acetylenic unsaturation. The additives are multifunctional in that they have limited slip properties, antiwear/extreme pressure properties, and corrosion inhibiting properties.
