  • Patent number: 8063004
Abstract: A chemical composition of matter comprising a wax plasticizing agent (plasticizer) tributoxyethyl phosphate, a mixture of selected long chain fatty acids (preferably C10 to C22), and a mixture of selected low-surface tension surfactants, which when added in solution to crude oil or refined products has been shown to lower both the B.S. & W. (rag layer) and the coefficient of friction of crude oils and refined products. This chemical composition of matter is particularly useful as a wax liquefaction, dispersant, and solubilization agent for asphaltene and paraffins in crude oil and refined products. The reduction in the co-efficient of friction resulting from the addition of this product to crude oil will allow crude oil to pump through pipelines with a minimum amount of resistance due to friction (drag).

  • Patent number: 6391189
Abstract: The present specification relates to wax blends comprising partial esters of polyols and montan wax acid, hydrocarbon wax, long-chain carboxylic acids and long-chain alcohols and to their use. With such blends it is possible, without water-soluble emulsifier and permanent soaps, to produce aqueous pastes which can be applied in use to leather surfaces to give water-resistant, non-tacky, elastic films without gray break. The drying times are shorter than with the known formulations, and the dried coat applied can easily be polished to highly glossy films.

  • Patent number: 6303280
Abstract: There is disclosed a transparent magnetic recording medium comprising at least one magnetic recording layer containing ferromagnetic particles, on a support, wherein an overcoat solution which comprises at least one kind of lubricant wax dispersion and at least one kind of anionic surfactant in an amount of 0.1% to 30%, based on the total weight of the lubricant wax dispersion, is coated on the at least one magnetic recording layer. There is also disclosed a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material having the transparent magnetic recording layer. The transparent magnetic recording medium can exhibit both a good state of coated surface and secure magnetic input/output performance. The silver halide photographic light-sensitive material can provide a silver halide photographic light-sensitive material having the transparent magnetic recording layer with the above-described property.

  • Patent number: 5840095
Abstract: The yield of flat powder (6) of Al, Mg or their alloy is enhanced by forming, on a rotary cooling body (4), a film (8) which can prevent the flat metal powder (8) from sticking to the cooling surface. The film (8) adheres to the cooling surface at a force which is sufficient for forming the film but which enables the film material to adhere to the flat powder which then separates from the cooling body (4). The film consists essentially of at least one liquid lower fatty acid and at least one solid higher fatty acid.

  • Patent number: 5804536
Abstract: A solid lubricant for bearings which is less likely to be washed away by water or liquid mud coming into bearings, and which can restrain the development of rust even in a harsh environment where high-concentration salt water comes into the bearings. A rust preventive in the form of a sulfonate or a fatty polyhydric alcohol partial ester is added to a composition made up of 5-97% by weight of a lubricating grease, 93-1% by weight of an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyolefin powder, and 1-50% by weight of oil exudation inhibitor, and mixed together. The mixture is then heated to a temperature higher than the gel point of the ultra-high-molecular-weight polyolefin and preferably lower than the dropping point of the lubricating grease and molded into the solid lubricant for bearings.
