Patent number: 8318654Abstract: A cleansing composition is described. The cleansing composition generally contains an antimicrobial agent, a heating agent, and a thermochromic agent. During use, the heating agent heats the composition so that the antimicrobial agent becomes more effective. The thermochromic agent, on the other hand, changes the color of the composition as it is heated in order to indicate to a user that the composition is at a desired temperature. In an alternative embodiment, instead of containing a heating agent, a heating source can be used to heat the composition. The heating source can be, for instance, an electrical resistance heater.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2006Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Douglas Robert Hoffman, David William Koenig, Scott W. Publication number: 20110301070Abstract: A water soluble strip that includes a carrier film that include water soluble polymer, one or more actives and one or more agents such as heat forming agent and/or degrading accelerator. The water soluble strip can optionally include other additives. The actives includes antimicrobial agent, cleaning agent and/or surfactant. The water soluble strip can include other materials. The heat forming agent and/or degrading accelerator, when used, are designed facilitate in degrading or dissolving the water soluble strip and/or increase the activity of the one or more actives. The water soluble film can be used for a variety of applications such as a hard surface cleaning strip, dishwashing strip, laundry cleaning strip, stop removing strip, drain unclogging strip, toilet bowl cleaning strip and the like. The water soluble strip eliminates the need to purchase and store numerous containers and/or heavy containers of cleaner that take up large amounts of shelf space.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 3, 2010Publication date: December 8, 2011Inventors: Maria Ochomogo, Nancy Falk

Publication number: 20090263884Abstract: The present invention relates to aspects of drain cleaning compositions, methods, and systems involving multiple levels of attack to facilitate decomposition of clogs in pipe systems. Aspects of the invention relate to a multi-action drain cleaning composition including chemical and biological components capable of producing an exothermic reaction, an oxidation reaction, and an enzymatic reaction. Generally, the chemical components act immediately to clear a clog in a pipe system and the biological components act over a longer period of time to provide longer-term maintenance of the pipe system. Additional aspects of the invention relate to a composition for use as a component of a multi-action drain cleaner that includes bacteria selectively cultured to subsist in a peroxygen-rich environment, a high-heat environment, and/or a high-pH environment. A bio-film for reducing or preventing a buildup of organic material in a pipe system including a matrix and a selectively cultured bacteria is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2008Publication date: October 22, 2009Applicant: ORGANICA BIOTECH, INC.Inventor: RAJ MEHTA

Publication number: 20040102343Abstract: Dual colorants are disclosed. The colorants of the present invention include at least one compound, which exhibits a first color outside an aqueous environment and a second color after placement into an aqueous environment. In some cases, the colorant includes an oil-soluble dye capable of exhibiting the first color and a water-soluble dye capable of exhibiting the second color. In certain embodiments, such colorants may be used in toilets. In these embodiments, the first color corresponds to a color associated with a fragrance, such as red for rose, while the second color corresponds to a color associated with cleanliness in a toilet, such as blue or green.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2002Publication date: May 27, 2004Inventor: Luz P. Patent number: 6136768Abstract: A water-dispersible effervescent drain cleaner having a composition of approximately 20-60% by weight of a mixture of metal hydroxides, 20-40% hypochlorite generator, and 10-40% effervescent materials. Lubricant, colors and fragrances may also be present. The components of this mixture are compressed into tablet, pellet, granules, or high density powder forms. The particles are of sufficient density to drop through water to the point of a clog. The effervescent materials work to break up the tablets or pellets and to agitate the mixture. The hypochlorite generator, in conjunction with the hydroxides reacts to dissolve hair. The hydroxide and hypochlorite generate heat, which will dissolve grease and soap clogs and accelerate the dissolution of hair.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1999Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Assignee: Chem-Link Laboratories LLCInventors: Hilton G. Patent number: 5721203Abstract: A triphase drain cleaner with hydrocarbon solvent and antifoam drain pipe coating. The triphase drain cleaner consists of a lower sulfuric acid base, an intermediate base consisting of a hydrocarbon solvent, and a top layer consisting of an antifoam slip/release agent. The lower base consists of at least 20 per cent sulfuric acid solution, with the middle base consisting of a hydrocarbon solvent capable of cleaning side walls of the drain pipe, while the upper section consists of an antifoam slip/release agent. The cleaning composition attacks drain blockage consisting of organic and inorganic matter and the foam typically associated with the composition's attack on the blockage. With the elimination of the unwanted foam by the antifoam, slip/release agent, it will also coat the drain side walls to reduce future deposits of matter that leads to drain blockage.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1996Date of Patent: February 24, 1998Inventors: Manzar Zuberi, Jack Smothers, M.
