  • Patent number: 6462013
Abstract: An isotropic liquid detergent composition comprising at least one surfactant and from about 0.1 to about 75 weight percent, based on the total weight of the liquid detergent composition, of a water-soluble or water-dispersible polymer having pendant acid functionality and a terminal fragment of a chain transfer agent, wherein the polymer is the polymerization product of a ethylenically unsaturated acid monomer and a C1 to C24 chain transfer agent. Unexpectedly, these polymers are compatible in isotropic liquid detergent formulations. When these polymers are used in a laundering process, they remove soil from textiles, inhibit soil redeposition onto textiles, and function as cobuilders by complexing metal ions present in hard water such as calcium and magnesium which otherwise may complex with the surfactants of a liquid detergent rendering the surfactants water-insoluble.

The polymers are soluble or dispersible to at least 0.01% by weight in distilled water at 25.degree. C. A method of using the polymers to prevent fading or corrosion of dishware is also described.

  • Patent number: 5981457
Abstract: The present invention relates to a concentrated liquid gel warewash detergent composition which contains about 5% to about 30% by weight of an alkali polyphosphate, about 8% to about 50% by weight of a source of alkalinity, about 0% to about 5% by weight of a surface active agent, about 0.1% to about 2% by weight of a hydrophilic crosslinkled polycarboxylate thickening agent, about 0.1% to about 2% by weight of a hydrogen bonding agent for the polycarboxylate, and about 0 to about 15% of a polyacrylate, the balance being water. The composition may also contain about 0% to about 3% by weight of a chlorine bleach. The composition is predissolved and can be accurately metered into warewash machines to clean and destain tablewares and dishwares.

  • Patent number: 5879469
Abstract: A dishwashing method is dislosed wherein two detergent compositions, one being alkalinic and the other acidic are applied in sequence onto the dishes. The liquid compositions are applied onto the dishes directly without or with only a moderate dilution such that once applied onto the dishes they input respective alkalinic and acid pH's on the surface of the dishes.

  • Patent number: RE38262
Abstract: We have found an alkaline warewashing detergent composition that can contain a critical amount of a nonionic rinse agent that when used in automatic warewashing machines permits the use of a potable water rinse without the addition of a separate rinse agent. Sufficient residual nonionic surfactant from the alkaline detergent remains on the surface ware and internal machine and rack surfaces after washing to promote adequate sheeting in the rinse cycle. The residual nonionic surfactant on internal surfaces dissolves in the rinse water to create an effective aqueous rinse agent. The nonionic rinse agents can be a single nonionic for both foam reduction cleaning and sheeting or can be a blend of nonionic materials providing these functions. The detergent can be in the form of a particulate, pelletized or block solid.
