  • Patent number: 11033649
Abstract: A hybrid packet containing deodorizing chemicals can dissolve to release the chemicals in a brine solution while still being formed using high speed packet forming machinery. A hybrid packet can be formed by feeding a sheet of dissolvable paper and a film of PVA material into the packet forming machine to form a hybrid packet having one side formed of the paper and the opposing side formed of the PVA material. The PVA sheet and paper panels are fused together by the machine to form a sealed interior compartment that holds the deodorizing chemicals. A serrated knife edge can be used to pierce the paper and PVA layers to separate individual packets. Reduced water volume in the forming operation avoids compromising the dissolvable paper portion of the hybrid packet. The packet contents can include citric acid and sodium bicarbonate.

  • Patent number: 9382506
Abstract: A water-soluble pouch suitable for use in machine dishwashing and which comprises a plurality of compartments in generally superposed or superposable relationship, each containing one or more detergent active or auxiliary components, and wherein the pouch has a volume of from about 5 to about 70 ml and a longitudinal/transverse aspect ratio in the range from about 2:1 to about 1:8, preferably from about 1:1 to about 1:4. The water-soluble pouch allows for optimum delivery of dishwashing detergent. A process for the manufacture of multi-compartment pouches and a pack to contain the pouches are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20150126426
Abstract: Disclosed herein are capsules for delayed release of an ingredient contained therein, in particular water-soluble capsules for delayed release of water-sensitive, gas-generating compositions, other gas-forming compositions, or other cleaning compositions into an aqueous liquid medium. The delayed release capsules can incorporate one or more gas-relief pinholes for gas-generating water-sensitive or other gas-forming compositions contained in the capsules, such as inorganic bleach or other alkaline compositions intended for delayed release into a wash medium during a laundry cycle or perfumes. The pinholes permit gas generated or otherwise formed within the capsule, such as due to exposure to environmental water vapor, to escape from the capsule interior, preventing pressure build-up and capsule deformation during storage. The pinholes are sized to prevent or otherwise substantially limit the passage of liquids when submerged in a liquid medium (e.g., liquid water in an aqueous liquid medium).
