Abstract: Stable oxidizing compositions and a method of preparing such compositions are presented. The compositions include a peroxygen, for example, a potassium monopersulfate or, percarbonate particle suspended in an alcoholic gel. The alcohol content in the gel is such that the peroxygen particle is prevented from coming into contact with water during storage, thereby helping maintain a high available oxygen level. When the alcoholic gel is mixed with water, it becomes less viscous and exposes the peroxygen particle to the water. The peroxygen is ready for use when it dissolves in the water.

  • Patent number: 6534075
Abstract: An antimicrobial and antiviral composition in powder form or in the form of a two part liquid concentrate for washing and sanitizing foods, food surfaces, food ware, process waters, animal quarters, and animal carcasses is described. The composition may also be used to reduce the microbial and viral population on animals; reducing human pathogenic microbes, reducing opportunistic pathogenic microbes on eggs, and treating skin diseases. The composition includes three reactive species which in solution form an oxidizing species, and optionally a food grade acid source. The reactive species include a natural source of a quaternary or protonizable nitrogen compound which is acceptable on foods, an oxidant and a halide source.

  • Patent number: 6391837
Abstract: An improved composition and method for cleaning shower stall floors and bathtub floors. Applicant's composition is formed by combining a first solvent having a dielectric constant of at least about 15.0, a second solvent having a dielectric constant of less than about 3.0, a third solvent comprising one or more carboxylic ester compounds, a first surfactant, and a second surfactant. Applicant's method comprises depolymerizing to form lower molecular weight compounds oligomeric/polymeric residues formed over a period of time from soap oils, bath oils, and body oils. This depolymerization is effected primarily by the polar first solvent. The lower molecular weight compounds formed by the depolymerization of the oligomeric/polymeric residues are then dissolved in the second solvent/third solvent components. That resulting mixture is then emulsified in water using the first surfactant and/or second surfactant. This water emulsion is then rinsed away.
