  • Patent number: 6169064
Abstract: The disclosure involves a novel amine ether acid salt surfactant. The amine constituent of the surfactant may include ether amines or fatty-based amines. The ether acid constituent of the surfactant, in particular, imparts liquidity to the surfactant. Hydrophobic regions may be included on both the amine and ether acid enhancing the surfactancy of the composition. The novel surfactant is versatile and is useful in many different applications.

  • Patent number: 6159916
Abstract: An improved cleaning composition is provided for shower and tub surfaces which is of the "shower rinsing" type, requiring no scrubbing, wiping, or immediate rinsing. The composition comprises:(a) a glycoside surfactant, the total amount of said surfactant being present in a cleaning effective amount;(b) a chelating agent, said chelating agent present in an amount effective to enhance bathroom soil removal in said composition; and(c) the remainder, water. A solvent such as isopropyl alcohol may also be added. The employment of a glycoside surfactant, especially one having an HLB value of greater than 13, remarkably improves the performance of such a shower rinsing composition both with respect to surface appearance streaking and filming and also bathroom soil and soap scum removing ability.

  • Patent number: 6153015
Abstract: The process for removing a soap-contaminated conversion layer remaining on a metal workpiece after cold-forming with an aqueous acidic cleaning composition containing water, a surfactant such as an alkyl amine ethoxylate and nitric acid, phosphoric acid and/or amidosulphonic acid includes immersing the contaminated metal workpiece in the aqueous acidic cleaning composition at a temperature above 60.degree. C. until it has a clean bright surface and a fatty acid formed by reaction of the soap in the conversion layer is dispersed in the cleaning composition and then subsequently separating the metal workpiece from the cleaning solution and, after the separating, cooling the recovered aqueous acidic cleaning composition to a temperature below 55.degree. C. until a fatty acid layer including the fatty acid is separated from the aqueous acidic cleaning composition.
