Cadmium Or Chromium Patents (Class 514/505)
  • Patent number: 6630172
Abstract: Disinfectant formulations are described which are preferably ecologically friendly and non-toxic to mammals and plants, and are highly effective against a broad spectrum of detrimental pathogenic microorganisms. The microbicidal formulation contains complexes having at least one metal ion which is microbicidal to at least one microorganism and potassium sodium tartrate in some form. When potassium sodium tartrate is used with these metal ions, it enhances the complex-forming properties of such metal complexes while concurrently increases their efficacy and potency at the same level of metal ion concentrations. These microbicidal formulations can be diluted in suitable proportions into aqueous systems to produce the desired dosages for each individual case, depending on the level and the severity of the contamination. The microbicidal formulations can be applied by conventional methods, e.g., spraying, soaking, fogging, impregnation, and the like.

  • Patent number: 6323354
Abstract: A method of preparing amino acid transition metal chelates a palatable highly bioavailable source of transition metals for animal nutrition from lipoproteins and transition metal salts. The method requires strong aqueous base hydrolysis of the lipoproteins to sodium or potassium salts of alpha amino acids mixed with fatty acids. The salts are neutralized to amino acids mixed with fatty acids before the aqueous mixture is reacted with transition metal salts to form aqueous chelates. The aqueous mixture is dried and granulated to form a dry product comprising transition metal chelates homogeneously mixed with fatty acids. The new granular composition containing zinc, iron, manganese, copper, cobalt, or chromium provides a palatable and highly bioavailable source of transition metals for animal nutrition. Effective sources of lipoproteins are fractured cell walls of microbes generated in biological syntheses.

  • Patent number: 6242009
Abstract: Microbicidal formulations are described which are preferably ecologically friendly and non-toxic to mammals, and are highly effective against a broad spectrum of detrimental pathogenic microorganisms. The microbicidal formulation contains complexes having the formula R-M, wherein R is at least one organic chelating moiety and M is at least one metal ion which is microbicidal to at least one microorganism. These complexes can disrupt microorganism activities by penetrating the natural protecting bio-films of such microorganisms through the reaction of the R-group with the organic constituents of these microorganisms while releasing M into their intra-cellular media. Thus, this process exhibits its biocidal activities from the inside-out, contrary to other methods which rely on damaging the protective biofilms.

  • Patent number: 5614553
Abstract: A method for alleviating stress and/or stress related symptoms in humans and other warm-blooded animals particularly when such symptoms are complicated by intestinal malabsorption of minerals is disclosed. Chromium and, optionally, one or more other minerals selected from the group consisting of copper, zinc, manganese, iron and selenium are provided in the form of amino acid chelates having a ligand to mineral ratio of at least 1:1, a molecular weight of no more than 1500 and a stability constant of between about 10.sup.6 and 10.sup.16 and administered orally. They are absorbed from a portion of the intestinal tract other than that utilized for the absorption of cations. The method is particularly adapted to reducing and/or controlling levels of serum cortisol in humans or other animals. The presence of symptoms of stress may first be confirmed or the compositions may be administered as a prophylactic.
