Abstract: This invention refers to cosmetic compositions, particularly a skin treating preparation, comprising a transparent oil phase and a transparent aqueous phase, preferably with humectant effect, which permits a homogeneous mixture when being shaken, and which separates again in two transparent phases thereafter. These properties are achieved by the addition of 0.1 to 1.0% by weight of a C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 fatty acid triglycerol ester.

Abstract: The invention consists in a ternary system.The ternary system comprises three phases which are non-miscible with one another and consist of a phase of perfluorinated ethers, an aqueous phase and a phase of silicones comprising at least one straight-chain-silicone containing a glycol group and at least one cyclic-chain silicone containing a methyl group. These silicones can be of the dimethicone copolyol type and of the cyclomethicone type, respectively. And the aqueous phase preferably contains a hydrating agent, a co-emulsifier and an anti-bacterial preservative. The invention concerns in particular cosmetics.

Abstract: A novel glycoside, 4.sup.G -alpha-D-glucopyranosyl rutin, is formed by a saccharide-transferring enzyme and glucoamylase in a solution which contains rutin together with glucoamylase. The 4.sup.G -alpha-D-glucopyranosyl rutin formed in such a solution is purified with a synthetic macroreticular resin, and crystallization in an organic solvent yields a complex crystal with the organic solvent. 4.sup.G -Alpha-D-glucopyranosyl rutin exhibits the same molecular absorption coefficient as intact rutin, and is readily water-soluble, substantially tasteless and odorless, and readily hydrolyzable in vivo to exhibit physiological activities inherent to rutin. These render 4.sup.G -alpha-D-glucopyranosyl rutin very useful as a highly-safe, natural yellow coloring agent, antioxidant, stabilizer, quality-improving agent, preventive, remedy, uv-absorbent and deterioration-preventing agent in foods, beverages, tobaccos, cigarets, feeds, pet foods, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and plastics.

Abstract: Non-ionic products of the formula:R--X--[C.sub.2 H.sub.3 (OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.n(OH)--CH.sub.2 --Y--R'in which R and R' denote alkyl or alkenyl radicals having from 6 to 20 carbon atoms, the sum of the numbers of carbon atoms in R and R' being 24 to 32; X denotes an oxygen atom, a sulphur atom or a sulphoxide group; Y denotes a sulphur atom, a sulphoxide group or a methylene group (if Y denotes methylene, the sum of the numbers of carbon atoms in R and R' is 22 to 30); and n denotes an integer or decimal number from 1 to 40 are disclosed. These non-ionic compounds are suitable for use in pharmaceutical or cosmetic applications, in particular for the care of the skin or hair.

Abstract: Nitrogen-free thickeners in aqueous surfactant solutions comprising polyethoxylates of mono- and/or polyunsaturated C.sub.12 -C.sub.22 fatty alcohols having an average degree of ethoxylation of 2 to 5, which also contain 1 to 2 terminal propylene oxide groups attached by condensation instead of the corresponding number of ethylene oxide groups. The products may also be used in admixture with dissolved inorganic electroltye salts and with polyethoxylates of saturated fatty alcohols. These surfactant solutions are useful in the formulation of personal hygiene preparations such as hair shampoos, foam baths, shower baths, handwashing pastes and the like.

Abstract: Alkyl or alkylamido dimethyl 2,3-dihydroxypropyl ammonium salts may be used in hair and skin conditioning compositions and methods to provide improved manageability, static control, and ease of wet and dry combing when applied to hair, particularly human scalp hair, and smooth and lubricated surfaces with pleasant after-feel when applied in topical conditioner compositions to the human skin. The hair conditioning formulations may include styling, cleaning and rinsing compositions such as gels, mousses, sprays, lotions, glazes and shampoos, while the skin conditioning compositions may include moisturizing creams and lotions, bath oils, liquid cleaners, body mousses or bath gels, as well as alcoholic or hydroalcoholic astringents, toners, pre-electric shave conditioners, after-bath splashes and fragrance products. A preferred quaternary according to the invention is oleamidoproyl dimethyl 2,3-dihydroxypropyl ammonium chloride, which forms exceptionally stable, clear, dilutable gels.

Abstract: This invention provides skin care compositions which include an emollient complex containing a primary moisturizing agent selected from certain carboxylic acid amides and a mucopolysaccharide secondary moisturizing agent. The compositions also include one or more skin-structuring proteins and an astringent agent which confers skin-firming characteristics. Long lasting protection is afforded by the optional incorporation of a cellulosic film-former. Preferred embodiments take the form of two discrete gel phases.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing a W/O/W type multiple emulsion using a polyglycerol polyricinolate (i.e. a polyglycerol ester of a polycondensed fatty acid of castor oil).The use of the polyglycerol polyricinolate is effective in increasing the rate of formation of the W/O/W type multiple emulsion remarkably and giving a W/O/W type multiple emulsion which is stable over a long period of time. The W/O/W type multiple emulsion has also an excellent heat stability and is useful for the production of medicines and cosmetics.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided for the removal ofsebum exudate from the skin. The composition comprises immobilzed enzymes in cosmetically acceptable vehicles for topical application. The immobilized enzymes are lipolytic lipases, proteolytic proteases and enzymes for the breakdown of sugar oligomers from glucoproteins in the skin exudates. The enzymes may be present individually or in any desired combination. The enzymes are immobilized in known manners by chemical and or physical means and are released from immobilization upon application to the skin.
