  • Patent number: 8708183
Abstract: A lid-lift hole assembly for an underground utility vault lid comprises a liner positioned in an open-ended lid-lift hole, and a receptacle positioned below the liner. Opposite side walls of the receptacle contain thru-holes aligned with fastener holes in opposite side walls of the liner, Fasteners extending through the thru-holes and into the fastener holes (from the underside of the lid) are tightened (to apply pressure to the juncture between the receptacle and the liner) to lock the liner in the lid-lift hole. The receptacle forms an enlarged-volume, box-like enclosure rigidly (but releasably) held beneath an open passage through the liner. The space inside the receptacle can contain debris kept from entering the working area of the vault. The space inside the receptacle is shaped to receive a tool for removing the lid.

  • Publication number: 20130055650
Abstract: A modular underground utilities vault enclosure and distribution system providing an integrated utilities interconnection system within a single modular enclosure and a single unified set of utility service connections leading from the vault to the premises of one or several utilities customers. The vault design comprises a set of modules suitable for assembly at the user site within a suitable excavation. The unified design permits installation of all utilities service lines within a single one-time trench connecting the vault to each of one or several premises through a common service-entry module. The vault assembly enables utilities access within the vault for connecting main utilities lines to individual premises utilities line sets. Each utility can service its own lines within the vault connecting to each premises served. The individual vault modules include assembly and alignment and interface aids to resist lateral displacement forces and seal the vault against groundwater leakage.

  • Patent number: 6324793
Abstract: A crypt lid with lifting means for applying a vertical force to lift the lid is provided. The lid is preferably cast of concrete with one or more lifting holes extending vertically through the lid. The holes may be lined with a corrosion resistant material, such as a hard plastic, PVC, or other suitable material. The lining is preferably threaded, and sealing plug is adapted for threaded engagement with the lining of the holes. The plug is provided with a recessed drive receptacle and preferably fits flush with the surface of the crypt lid. This feature prevents damage to the plug, the lining, or the lid itself when a crypt is exhumed with heavy machinery like a backhoe. An easily removed privacy partition between upper and lower sections of the burial vault is also provided.
