Publication number: 20100293868Abstract: The invention is a portable and modular shelter that are assembled and erected to serve as a background or expendable facade for range targets used in live ammunition target practice and combat exercises. The panels of the modular and portable shelter are ballistically designed to let rounds of ammunition pass through with as little damage to the panels as possible. Additionally, the panels do not cause the ballistic projectiles passing through to scatter, splashback, or ricochet. The modular and portable shelters have no lasting environmental impact if erected temporarily.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 25, 2010Publication date: November 25, 2010Inventor: Leonard Holzworth

Patent number: 7543412Abstract: A pair of upright wall panels are each provided with a sidewardly spaced pair of generally parallel but inclined guide grooves extending vertically along the outer face of the upright frame edge rails. A connector assembly including a main activator rod having a pair of wedge members threaded thereon in spaced relationship therealong is positioned between the opposed upright edge rails. The wedge members have wedgelike edge flanges which protrude into the grooves of the opposed upright edge rails. Rotation of the activating rod causes the wedge members to simultaneously move relative to the rod in opposite directions to effect gripping engagement with the groove walls to simultaneously effect a drawing together of the edge rails and alignment thereof.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2004Date of Patent: June 9, 2009Assignee: Haworth, Ltd.Inventors: Darren R. Long, Nathan S. Shedd, Rupert Jakob-Bamberg, Kevin T. Domagala, Aaron D. Mullin, Vincent A. Shivak, Dale Marshall

Patent number: 7434364Abstract: A pair of upright wall panels are each provided with a sidewardly spaced pair of generally parallel but inclined guide grooves extending vertically along the outer face of the upright frame edge rails. A connector assembly including a main activator rod having a pair of wedge members threaded thereon in spaced relationship therealong is positioned between the opposed upright edge rails. The wedge members have wedgelike edge flanges which protrude into the grooves of the opposed upright edge rails. Rotation of the activating rod causes the wedge members to simultaneously move relative to the rod in opposite directions between a first end position wherein the wedge members effect gripping engagement with the groove walls to simultaneously effect a drawing together of the edge rails and alignment thereof, and a second end position wherein the wedge members clampingly engage only a single edge rail to facilitate initial mounting of the connector assembly.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2005Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Assignee: Haworth, Ltd.Inventors: Scott MacDermott, Laura A. Patent number: 6253517Abstract: The present invention is an improved modular panel arrangement for the assembly of a first panel to a second modular panel or a portion of a permanent wall. The arrangement comprises a modular panel of generally rectilinear configuration, having at least one edge thereon. A first corner block is attached to the edge of the panel. An elongated tensile connecting rod is pivotally attached to a pivot hinge of the first corner block, the rod having a lug disposed transversely across at least one end thereof. A second corner block is attached to the second panel or portion of the wall. The second block has at least one cammed locking finger on a base thereof, wherein the rod is swingable about the pivot hinge on the first corner block to permit the lug thereon to engage a cam surface on the second corner block to lockably secure and align the edge of the first modular panel with the second modular panel or wall. Patent number: 6231266Abstract: A cam lock fastening system including cam lock devices for connecting two or more sheet metal panels to create a work booth. The device comprises a rigid, pivotable handle which includes at one end a cam like head; the handle being attached to an angle iron by a pivot pin. The angle iron is placed over the edges of the panels and is in a cooperating relationship with the panels as the handle is pivoted, causing the cam surface to be compressed against the compacted panel. The device is closed completely when a flat portion of the cam surface is in a locking relatonship with the panels. The locking of the device is aided by exerting influence upon the handle in a biasing manner, such as with a mallet like tool. The panels may be disconnected by reversing the direction of the handle to unlock the device. Eight foot sheet metal panels would require about three devices.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1998Date of Patent: May 15, 2001Inventor: John P. Gott
