The first side portion includes a first slanted edge and the second side portion includes a second slanted edge for conforming to the rear rim of the roof louver when installed. The inventive device is preferably constructed of a polyester fiber material thereby preventing water and insects from entering into the roof louver. The inventive device prevents snow from directly blowing into the attic of the building through the roof louver during inclimate weather conditions.

    Abstract: A vent pipe flashing system includes a lower flange, a resilient boot portion and a matching sleeve portion. According to a first embodiment, the lower flange is plastic or metal, the resilient boot portion is plastic or rubber, and the sleeve portion is metal or plastic and has a diameter large enough to slide over the vent pipe and a length about one inch longer than the vent pipe. The top of the sleeve is crimped to hook over the top end of the vent pipe and the bottom of the sleeve is coupled to the boot by crimping. According to a second embodiment, the lower flange includes a metal or plastic roof flange and a rubber gasket having a skirt fixedly seats atop the roof flange. The bottom end of the sleeve portion is crimped over the rubber gasket. The upper ends of the sleeve portion and the vent pipe are covered by a cap having an inverted U-section. According to either embodiment, multiple (telescoping) sleeve portions may be provided and (optionally) coupled to each other by crimping.

The rear section is in communication with a hole in the roof, while the front section is in communication with an exterior of the structure. Skeletons are formed in one piece and are made to fit each different size and type of roofing tile. The caps and the skeleton are ribbed for rigidity.

    Abstract: A retrofit roof riser subframing support assembly for attaching a new roof over an existing roof wherein the new roof has a slope independent of the slope of the existing roof. The assembly can include a series of spaced apart rows of roof support members having one end attachable to the new roof structure and another end mountable on the existing roof. Each row of roof support members can have a different height such that the difference in height between the tallest row and the shortest row defines the slope of the new roof. Each roof support member can include at least one fixed length post member having one end retained in a socket portion of a mounting member which is mountable on the existing roof. The other end of the post member can have a purlin clip rotatably connected thereto. The purlin clip can be rotated to the desired angle, locked in place, and attached to the new roof structure.

    Abstract: A louvre type roof structure includes a plurality of parallel slats mounted on carrier elements which in turn are mounted on carrier beams such as to permit pivotal displacement of the carrier elements and the slats between a closed position in which the slats are disposed in a roughly coplanar orientation, and an open position in which the slats are disposed in spaced apart generally parallel planes. The carrier elements are secured to the slats by engaging the slats without penetrating the slats, so that each slat is located in a fixed planar orientation relative to the respective carrier. Mounting of the carrier elements to the carrier beams is by means of a pair of mounting levers for each carrier element. One of the pair of mounting levers is a fixed lever securable to a carrier beam in a selected position, and the other lever is a free lever displaceable relative to a carrier beam.

    Abstract: An asphaltic isocyanurate foam useful in roofing applications. The foam is made from asphalt having a penetration range of between approximately 5-25, a softening point of between approximately 120.degree. F. and 200.degree. F., and an asphaltene content of no more than about 30%. This asphalt is liquified and mixed with a mixture of polyols such as Voranol 270, Multranol 9138, and castor oil. Other chemicals, such as a surfactant, a viscosity reducer, and a flame retardant can also be included in this mixture. The mixture is then brought to a temperature of between approximately 140.degree. F. and 220.degree. F., mixed with water and a polyisocyanate in a molar ratio of polyisocyanate:polyol of between about 2.0:1 and about 2.5:1 and reacted to form an asphaltic isocyanurate foam.

Another surface of the central channel includes a notch adapted to receive the protuding member. The tubular outside vent cover has a diameter larger than the vent pipe to be covered by the vent extension flashing assembly. The assembly includes a tubular inner vent stack cover positioned within the tubular outer vent cover, wherein the tubular inner vent cover includes a diameter smaller than that of the covered vent pipe so as to fit within the covered vent pipe. When the assembly is positioned over the vent pipe, the vent pipe extends between the tubular outer vent cover and the tubular inner vent cover. A rigid expandable portion is formed on the innermost end of the inner vent cover and is capable of being expanded by a cam member to engage an inner surface of the vent pipe to hold the inner vent cover in place within the vent pipe.

Alternatively, the security grate may be disposed adjacent the interior of the panel and then the backing plate may be omitted. A cover of insulating material is attachable adjacent the rear of the panel to prevent air flow through the panel aperture and to provide insulation. A transparent or translucent cover may be substituted for the insulating cover to provide illumination when the garage door is closed. A closeable opening may be provided in the cover to permit airflow therethrough on a selected basis.
