The astragal boot includes a platform and a pair of lateral fins spaced from one another and being flexible and projecting downwardly from the platform to seal against the threshold. Primary fins are flexible and project downwardly from the platform a greater distance than the lateral fins and are joined to and extend between the lateral fins. The lateral fins are joined to the primary fins and hold the primary fins into sealing engagement with the threshold to prevent the penetration of water between the astragal boot and the threshold. The lateral fins hold the primary fins against the threshold because the primary fins are thinner thereby minimizing the effort required to close the semi-active door over the threshold.

Abstract: This invention relates to both a concrete wall having a series of slanted deflection surfaces to spread the force of impacting vehicles, to buttress against earth forces, and to abate noises and to a method of constructing such a wall. The wall can be economically constructed from precast concrete elements which are adapted to be easily and rapidly stacked and joined in series to save on the cost of labor and materials. The wall is comprised of a series of panels which are stable and self-supporting when placed on a prepared foundation due to the Z-shape of the panels. Stable connection between the panels is provided by cast-in-place concrete, structural support columns. The legs of the Z-shaped panels form a stay-in-place form for the cast-in-place concrete when two Z-shaped panels are placed end to end. The cast-in-place concrete hardens and becomes integral structural support columns for the wall.

  • Patent number: 4314430
Abstract: An improved method of wall construction, and an improved wall construction are provided by the invention. The individual components of the wall are first set in place and then encased in concrete to form a load bearing wall. Multiple channel track units are positioned at the upper and lower edges of the wall, extending therebetween is a plurality of non-load bearing uprights. Attached to the uprights are the various wall components such as doorframes, insulation windowframes, wiring and piping conduits. Forms are then set into place and the concrete is poured, upon hardening of the concrete the load bearing wall is complete, thereby eliminating customary furring strips, inside insulation, sheetrock, and external siding, plastering, stucco, etc.

  • Patent number: 4048769
Abstract: A two story building consistng of three elongated box-shaped prefabricated sections wherein there are two sections connected together side by side on the ground floor and a further section is stacked on one of the ground floor sections to comprise the second floor. Each section includes a framework of metal beams and the walls of the section are defined at least in part by the metal beams of the framework. The walls may include openings for doors, windows and interior passageways. Each wall is composed of cast concrete and has embedded therein a plurality of stiffening bars. The stiffening bars are inclined to both the horizontal and vertical and have bent-over ends which are disposed at corners of the walls without touching the proximate metal framework. The stiffening bars also have portions near each corner of an opening and, between openings and vertical framework components, the stiffening bars cross each other to produce a truss-like structure embedded in the concrete of the walls.

  • Patent number: 4006573
Abstract: Disclosed is a narrow frame wall structure having panel gripping mullions formed of extruded metal. Typical vertical mullions comprise a mullion proper with a glazing pocket on one side and one half of a glazing pocket on the other side, a mullion stop attached to the mullion proper after installation of a panel, and a mullion filler snap-locked to the mullion proper and the mullion stop to provide the remaining half of the second glazing pocket, thereby providing easy glazing and adequate glass bite notwithstanding the narrowness of the mullion. Joints between vertical and horizontal mullions are formed with joint pins positioned internally of the horizontal mullions on internal splines, and abutting, passing into or through, the vertical mullion, with predrilled screw holes in the pin so located that a screw hole is positioned a predetermined distance from the side of the vertical mullion in every standard location of the pin.
