  • Patent number: 5675945
Abstract: A loading dock shelter having rotating seal members is provided for forming a relatively air-tight seal between the dock opening and a truck so as to prevent air movement between the inside and the outside of the building during loading and unloading operations. The loading dock shelter has a frame assembly rigidly attached to the periphery of the dock opening and seal members rotatably mounted to the frame assembly on either side of the dock opening so that the truck may fit therebetween and form a seal between the exterior walls of the truck and the seal member. The seal members are rotatably movable between a first (open) position and a second (sealing) position in response to the movement of the truck into and out of the loading dock. In the first position, the seal members project into the path of the truck so that the truck engages the seal members as it backs into the loading dock.

Abstract: A do-it-yourself kit for retrofitting without special tools protective weatherproof cladding on an existing door or window frame assembly. Three elongate one-piece sections of extruded plastic are prefabricated in transverse cross section to match the profile of the exterior exposed surfaces of two sides and the header of the frame assembly. Lengthwise portions of each section are folded to grip and secure under friction door stop or sash guide surfaces of the frame assembly. Tabs extending from mitered upper ends of the side sections underlap mitered ends of the header section. Templates are included in the kit for cutting the lower ends of the side sections to match the profile of the door threshold or window sill.

  • Patent number: 4809469
Abstract: A frame-and-clip assembly utilized in the installation of a door frame to a compartment used for storage, baggage or the like, such as found in a recreational vehicle or other shell-like camper housing, although adaptable to compartments in other housings as well. The frame member includes first and second legs extending in opposite directions but joined by a spacer member between them, and a notch located in the corner region of the first leg and the spacer member. The second leg is adapted to engage the outer wall surface of a wall section forming the exterior boundary of the compartment. The clip gripping member comprises generally an upright member mounted on a base and extending over the length of the first leg, a barb on the base for attaching to the notch and a flange and lip for wrapping around the distal end of the first leg. A thinner cross-section in the base, adjacent the gripping member, facilitates the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4791758
Abstract: A door frame having a hinged jamb, a strike jamb and a header, each of which is in two parts. One part of each pair has a channel for slidably receiving a lipped segment of the other part. A lipped cover on the first part engages the lipped segment of the second part to limit movement of the two parts relative to one another. A biasing means on the first part urges the two parts against one another. The biasing means is rigidly affixed to the first part and extends across the channel to leave a small gap through which the lipped segment of the first part can be rotatably inserted.

  • Patent number: 4589229
Abstract: A door jamb assembly for varied installations in a conventional rough cut door opening disposed in a wall, the assembly including first, second, and third elongated members for mounting on the sides and top of the rough cut door opening to form a pair of door jambs and a header. Two of the elongated members are configured so that they will mate on one end thereof to the first elongated member and on the other end thereof to a portion of the other elongated member between the ends thereof, these two elongated members being essentially mirror images of each other. As a result, a door jamb assembly is provided which can be installed in various width door openings to provide jambs for doors which can be hung with left or right hinges and which open in or out. Additionally, the width of the jambs and header is variable to accommodate walls of different thicknesses.
