    Abstract: A Bailey beam for reinforcement is composed of Bailey panels, stiffening rods, bolts, anchor bolts, a prestressing tendon and anchorages. The components of the Bailey beam are all prefabricated in a factory, and are assembled and hoisted on site. The prestressing tendon is arranged in a lower chord of the Bailey beam, and is anchored to the stiffening rods at both ends. The Bailey beam slides towards both ends during prestress tensioning. In this case, the Bailey beam is lifted as a whole, and the prestressing force is applied to a lower edge of the Bailey beam, resulting in an inverted arch of structure, closing up of cracks and a decrease in downward deflection. After the completion of the prestress tensioning, sealing is performed by fixing fillers, a sealing steel plate and injecting solidifiable materials.

    Abstract: A column mounted shoring bracket has a support sub-assembly attached to a column or other supporting surface, a jack sub-assembly attached to the support and a head sub-assembly attached to a part of the jack that varies in height relative to the support. The head has a head base that supports one or more rollers for moving a form. The head also has a supporting plate for supporting the form. The supporting plate is connected to the head base so that it may be slid upwards and fixed in a position where the top of the supporting plate is above the top of the rollers, for example to carry the weight of a slab being built, or slid downwards so that the top of the supporting plate is below the top of the rollers which do not have to carry the weight of the slab being built. The angular position of the rollers may be aligned with an external reference such as the side of a column, a wall, or a jig.

    Abstract: A universal cross member that can be used with a bed frame or bed rails to provide support for a box spring and mattress. The universal cross member has a straight bar with telescoping ends so that the universal cross member can be used even where there are variances in the distance between the side rails and still be fitted to those side rails. A tensioning system is provided to add strength to the universal cross member to eliminate, in almost all instances, the need for some further support of the universal cross member from the floor, such as a caster or a glide. In the system, a tensioning bar has its ends affixed at or near the ends of the straight member and its center contacts a block at a finite distance from the straight member at or about the center of the straight member. By placing the tension bar in a predetermined tension, a force is created that acts through the block against the approximate center of the straight member.

    Abstract: A metal beam includes a top flange; a bottom flange; and an intermediate web joining together the top flange and the bottom flange. The bottom flange includes an upper deck and a lower deck joined at their inner sides to the intermediate web in parallel spaced relation to each other to form a double-deck structure. The space between the upper and lower decks is occupied by tensioning elements embedded in concrete for prestressing the beam. The top flange is of smaller width but of substantially greater thickness than the bottom flange lower deck. In one described embodiment, the intermediate web is of a single wall construction; and in a second described embodiment, it is of a double-wall construction and also receives tensioning elements and concrete for prestressing the beam. Also described is a building structure in which the metal beams are used for supporting horizontal floor panels.
