Abstract: A snow guard is described which includes an integrated plastic part with a snow retaining part, as well as a bearing part and a retaining strap that can be moved and secured in the integrated plastic part. A shoulder connected to the snow retaining part, as well as the horizontal part and a projection of the retaining strap, form two arms that engage the lower end of a roof tile in the manner of prongs. The upper area of the vertical part of the strap is provided with a nose, and a spring surrounds the upper area of the vertical part of the strap and the nose. A catch plate with catch teeth is provided in the integrated plastic part parallel to the vertical part of the retaining strap. To assemble the snow guard, the retaining strap is inserted into a guide channel arranged in a vertical guide part, and a spring engages between two catch teeth. The snow guard can be used for roof tiles of any shape and thickness.
Abstract: An end insert for a top cap on a wall panel comprises a extension member removably joined to a tail member. The tail member is received within a channel of the top cap and affixed to the top cap by sonic welding. The extension member is an elastomer and has a stop flange which covers the open end, and a portion which extends away from the open end.
Abstract: An ice breaker which is attachable to the top surface of an inclined roof having a V-shaped front edge which lifts and retains the leading edge of a sheet of ice which slides down an inclined roof. The V-shaped edge shears the ice upon further downward movement. The ice breaker further includes a wing with a tapered front portion that acts to shear a sheet of ice that is moving too fast to be retained in the V-shaped portion. The outwardly extending sides of the wing aid in securing a sheet of ice that is already retained in the V-shaped front edge.
Abstract: Roof-mounted devices for providing drainage channels through ice dams that may form on a roof under winter conditions are spaced along the margin of the roof, each device comprising an elongated, heat-collecting metal plate which is installed in a transversely upright position between an adjacent pair of shingles. The plate extends longitudinally in a downward direction along the slope of the roof with its lower end portion projecting clear of the roof. Opposed, major vertical surfaces are thus presented by the plate and are black in color to maximize the collection of solar energy thereby causing a drainage channel to form along the surfaces through dams of ice or snow.
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for the removal of accumulated snow loads from roofs. The apparatus comprises a plurality of upper and lower brackets affixable to a planar roof surface in spaced configuration thereon. Each bracket has one or more slots capable of receiving and retaining a wire. Actuation of the system by pulling a wire causes the wire to be released from the upper brackets, and to slice through an accumulated snow load, breaking the seal between the snow and the roof and resulting in the snow sliding off the roof.
Abstract: A bracket assembly for securing a wall member, such as a drywall board, to a ceiling track is disclosed. The bracket assembly includes a housing formed of interconnected, generally parallel, planar face members having a generally J-shaped cross-section. An upper portion of a wall member is snugly received within the housing. A spring clip is engageable with the longer rear face member such that the spring clip may also engage a side section of a channel type ceiling track to thereby secure the housing and the confined wall member to the track.
Abstract: An assembly for shielding a concrete structure from solar radiation comprising a plurality of heat-reflective, heat-insulative panels suspended above the surface of the concrete. The surface of the panels proximal to the concrete surface is non-planar.
Abstract: This invention relates to the prevention of damage caused by ice dams formed from snow and ice at the eaves of houses in colder climates. It consists of a highly heat-conductive bar with an efficient solar heat collector at one end and optionally an efficient collector of waste roof heat at the other. The device is located at the edge of a roof with the solar collector extending beyond the roof edge and the heat collector located toward the center of the roof. Collected energy is conducted along the bar and to its sides where it melts the surrounding ice and provides a tunnel in the ice through which otherwise trapped water flows from the roof. This water might otherwise leak through the roof and into the house where it might do considerable damage.
Abstract: A roof snow guard in the form of a flat base member mounted flush to an inclined building roof and extending parallel thereto in the direction of incline and having a wing member extending angularly outwardly of the base member at the lower end thereof to prevent movement of snow or ice on the roof, which is formed integrally with the base member of molded clear plastic to render the snow guard practically invisible on the roof, reduce cost, and prevent discoloration of the roof during weathering of the snow guard since it is immune to corrosion.
Abstract: Horizontally spaced arcuate frame members are supported directly or indirectly from the tower which supports the antenna. The interval between the arcuate members is spanned by a wind-permeable cover such that the frames and the cover surround the upper portion of the antenna. Each frame member may be a complete circle or an arc of a circle. Supports such as beams join the frame members to the tower and the frame member structure is stabilized with adjustable ties connecting the frame members to the tower.
Abstract: An installation for reducing suction forces on a flat or slightly inclined roof structure including disturbing or interfering elements or baffles arranged in the zone of the roof corners. The disturbing or interfering elements or baffles may be provided with either vertically or horizontally extending bars or may include a plurality of perforations or holes disposed in a plate member. Furthermore, the disturbing element or baffle may have a bracket-like configuration or consist of a wind guiding device of a snowplow shape.
