Patent number: 4413453Abstract: A swimming pool wall, for placement in an excavation, is made up of a series of bendable plates having only vertical flanges for stiffening while permitting shaping the wall to a selected outline. A resilient coping strip embraces the upper edge of the wall and houses a rigid metal bar to retain the upper edge of the wall in the desired configuration while other braces, at the lower edge of the wall extend from the plates to the outer edge portions of the flanges to securely maintain the lower edge of the wall in the desired configuration. Vertical Z-shaped bars are secured to certain of the plates to further stiffen them and further braces, secured to the flanges, extend diagonally upward into a concrete apron, selected ones of the diagonal braces carrying a form plate for defining the outer edge of the apron. Rigid bars are used to hold corner plates to a desired curvature during assembly of the pool wall and its placement in the excavation. After back-filling and forming the apron, those bars are removed.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1980Date of Patent: November 8, 1983Assignees: Carl R. Meyer, Carol S. MeyerInventor: Donald H. Witte

Patent number: 4366654Abstract: In a double-walled tank for low-temperature liquids, such as a liquid gas, an inner tank forms a primary safety casing while an outer tank, enclosing the inner tank, forms a secondary safety casing. The inner tank includes a base and an upwardly extending side wall with at least the base being formed of metal. Preferably, the outer tank is formed of reinforced concrete. A thermal insulation layer is located between the two tanks, a ring of reinforced concrete encircles the junction of the side wall and base of the inner tank. The ring is L-shaped and in radial section has an upwardly extending leg in contact with the outside surface of the side wall and a generally horizontal leg in contact with the radially outer part of the lower surface of the base.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1980Date of Patent: January 4, 1983Assignee: Dyckerhoff & Widmann AktiengesellschaftInventor: Helmut Bomhard

Patent number: 4297819Abstract: A pool wall is formed of resin panels 10 that are reinforced and connected end to end with inward facing walls 11 having peripheral flanges and strengthening ribs 16-19 that extend outward. End flanges 14 and 15 have longitudinal alternating projections 20 along their inner and outer edges, and the alternation of projections is reversed on opposite panel ends to form mating interlocks holding panels 10 against vertical relative movement. Projection free spaces between projections 20 form vertical channels 25 extending up end flanges 14 and 15, and holes 24 on end flanges 14 and 15 are spaced along channels 25. Horizontal channels 26 extend along the top flange 12 to join and extend between vertical channels 25. Strip-shaped lengths of reinforcing material extend along the vertical and horizontal channels, and the vertical strips lock the connected panel ends to resist transverse horizontal movement between panels 10.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1980Date of Patent: November 3, 1981Assignee: Heldor Associates, Inc.Inventor: George F. Patent number: 4279414Abstract: A uniquely constructed playing court having a generally rectangular configuration comprising front, rear and side walls and/or ceiling wherein the front and side walls are a composite of integrated prefabricated panels, the inner facing surfaces of said panels being sheets which, according to one highly unique aspect of the invention, are of polycarbonate material, said sheets being mounted upon corrugated members whose corrugations are filled with a high density foam and the space surrounding said corrugations is filled with a low density foam. Vertical conventional studs are used to mount the panels by using appropriate fastening means between the studs and the rear surface of the panels. In a particular configuration, clips are welded to the inner facing flanges of the studs, and mating clips are welded to the apices of the corrugations of the corrugated backing sheet so that the panels may be attached upon the studs in adjacent and adjoining relationship.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1978Date of Patent: July 21, 1981Inventors: Steven B. Patent number: 4031677Abstract: Each prefabricated side wall of a transportation type vehicle has a joint surface formed along the lower, inner side thereof for seating thereto the laterally outward edge portions of two flanges which extend laterally outwardly in vertically spaced, parallel relation along each side of a prefabricated floor slab of such vehicle. An upwardly tapered bead along the outer edge of the uppermost of each pair of such flanges enters a recess provided therefor along its respective side wall surface. Also, one half of a plastic-key-interlock joint is formed along the outer edge of the lowermost flange of each pair for interlocking engagement with a second half of each such joint which is formed along each such joint surface. With the side walls substantially perpendicular to the floor slab, upward movement of each tapered bead into its recess also moves the joint halves associated therewith into interlocking engagement with each other, and simultaneously opens up a key-forming passage lengthwise within each joint.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1976Date of Patent: June 28, 1977Assignee: Rhor Industries, Inc.Inventor: Keith W.
